TL;DR: Based on the field data of the Qiantang River, the characteristic of the tidal bore is analyzed, such as the height, the propagation speed, the fluid velocity, the shapes and sights, and the pressure of the bore.
Abstract: Based on the field data of the tidal bore in the Qiantang River, the characteristic of the tidal bore is analyzed, such as the height, the propagation speed, the fluid velocity, the shapes and sights, and the pressure of the tidal bore.In addition,a 2D mathematical model based on KFVS(kinetic flux vector splitting)scheme is used to simulate the formation, evolution and dissipation of the tidal bore in the Qiantang River, and to numerically replicate the phenomena of the intersection, reflection of the tidal bores, and a thread-shape bore, which leads to more understanding about the characteristic of the tidal bores in the Qiantang River by analyzing the computational results.

TL;DR: According to the hydrologic, sediment and riverbed features of the Yangtze Estuary, a method is given to determine the width of the initial section, rate of relaxing restrictions along the channel, curvature radius and other major parameters as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The training experiences of domestic and foreign estuaries are introduced and the regulation research for the Yangtze River Estuary is briefly reviewed. According to the hydrologic, sediment and riverbed features of the Yangtze Estuary, a method is given to determine the width of the initial section, rate of relaxing restrictions along the channel, curvature radius and other major parameters. The general principle of arranging the regulation structures is provided, along with the length and height of the guiding levee. Analyses of the riverbed change after the construction of the first and second phase regulation works show that the regulation principle presented in this paper accords with the natural state of the Yangtze Estuary.

TL;DR: Based on the assumption that the drain ratio of pore air is a constant, a simplified consolidation theory is proposed, and is used to simulate the infiltration of rain water into clay stratum with surface cracks as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Based on the assumption that the drain ratio of pore air is a constant, a simplified consolidation theory is proposed, and is used to simulate the infiltration of rain water into clay stratum with surface cracks. The calculation results are rational.

TL;DR: In this paper, the deformation of structural clays is divided into three phases as elastic, structural strength damage and remolded soil, and an elasto-viscoplastic damage model is developed.
Abstract: On the basis of the micro deformation mechanism of natural clays, the deformation of structural clays is divided into three such phases as elastic, structural strength damage and remolded soil, and an elastoviscoplastic damage model is developed. Numerical simulation of the preloading test of a deep and thick soft ground at the alluvial flat of Yangtse River is carried out by use of the mode. Calculation results show that the elastoviscoplastic damage model can simulate the loading and consolidation deformation and creep of structural clays, and that the model can be used to calculate practical settlement and to predicate the creep deformation of structural clays.
