TL;DR: In this article, a mixed finite element procedure for plane elasticity is introduced and analyzed, and the symmetry of the stress tensor is enforced through the introduction of a Lagrange multiplier.
Abstract: A mixed finite element procedure for plane elasticity is introduced and analyzed. The symmetry of the stress tensor is enforced through the introduction of a Lagrange multiplier. An additional Lagrange multiplier is introduced to simplify the linear algebraic system. Applications are made to incompressible elastic problems and to plasticity problems.

TL;DR: A reconstruction of the well-known theory of calculus on [0, 1] will naturally bring a calculus associated with the harmonic functions, Laplace operator, Gauss-Green formula and so on, on the N-Sierpinski space whose Hausdorff dimension is (logN)/(log 2) as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate topological properties of a uniquely determined compact set, such that K = Σ λ ∈ Λ istg f λ istg (K), where eachf isEnabled λ is a weak contraction of a complete metric space andΛ = {1,2,...,m} or Λ = N.
Abstract: We shall investigate topological properties of a uniquely determined compact setK such thatK = Σ λ ∈Λ f λ (K), where eachf λ is a weak contraction of a complete metric space andΛ = {1,2,...,m} orΛ =N. Such a setK is said to be self-similar. Many classical peculiar sets can be represented in this form. We shall also discuss the interesting problem presented by R. F. Williams.

TL;DR: In this paper, the asymptotic behavior toward the rarefaction waves of the solution of a one-dimensional model system associated with compressible viscous gas is studied.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior toward the rarefaction waves of the solution of a one-dimensional model system associated with compressible viscous gas If the initial data are suitably close to a constant state and their asymptotic values atx=±∞ are chosen so that the Riemann problem for the corresponding hyperbolic system admits the weak rarefaction waves, then the solution is proved to tend toward the rarefaction waves ast→+∞ The proof is given by an elementaryL 2 energy method

TL;DR: In this paper, a travelling wave solution with shock profile for a one-dimensional model system associated with compressible viscous gas is investigated in terms of asymptotic stability, provided the initial disturbance is suitably small and of zero constant component.
Abstract: Travelling wave solutions with shock profile for a one-dimensional model system associated with compressible viscous gas are investigated in terms of asymptotic stability. The travelling wave solution is proved to be asymptotically stable, provided the initial disturbance is suitably small and of zero constant component. The proof is given by the elementalL 2 energy method.
