TL;DR: The idea that the rise of modern, industrial society originates in psychological advancements is to find among classic authors of sociology and history such as Comte, Elias and Lamprecht and more recently described by Habermas.
Abstract: The idea that the rise of modern, industrial society originates in psychological advancements is to find among classic authors of sociology and history such as Comte, Elias and Lamprecht and more recently described by Habermas. It will be shown that central transformations within sciences, industrial economy, political structures, Enlightenment, humanitarian revolution, law, painting, music and literature having taken place during the emergence of modern society actually originate in psychological stage advancements. Thus, there is a deep connection between psychological stages on the one side and historical transformations leading to modern society on the other side. It is therefore necessary to combine Piagetian psychology with historical data and sociological considerations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the ontological methodology according to the qu'anic monotheistic law, Tawhid and its unitary relationship in the world-system of 'everything' is established.
Abstract: The paper firstly establishes the ontological methodology according to the qu’anic monotheistic law, Tawhid and its unitary relationship in the world-system of ‘everything’. Tawhid as the primal ontological law in the Qur’an is differently poised to Shari’ah as the latter’ sectarian nature that evolved over time. Consequently, the concept of spirituality derived from the Tawhidi law is explained in terms of the precept of oneness between the good things of life while avoiding the unwanted ones. The imminent methodological consequences of Tawhid as law on the topic of spirituality and organization are explained by an analytical model that is empirically viable. Furthermore, the other examples are regarding the development of the wellbeing index to express the ontological role of Tawhidi unity of knowledge. The place of Islamic economics is thereby explained with the imminent Tawehidi ontological premise.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper summarized the Chinese diasporic periodization in Australia by metaphor: "Miserable Sojourners", "Discriminated Explorers", "New Reterritorializers" and "Transnational Mobilers".
Abstract: Although the research on the Chinese diasporas in the Asian Pacific is abundant, rare projects specifically focus on periodization framework. This paper aims to reveal the Chinese diasporic periodization with its indicators and determinants in Asian Pacific. Historical studies and ethnographic research into the Chinese diasporas in Australia found unusual “peak” and “bottom” experiences: In 1888, the Chinese had been the largest diasporic community in Australia, but bottomed to one of smallest groups in the 1940s and peaked at the largest diasporic group again in 2017. Investigating the “peak” and “bottom”, this paper summarizes the Chinese diasporic periodization in Australia by metaphor: “Miserable Sojourners”, “Discriminated Explorers”, “New Reterritorializers”, “Transnational Mobilers”. Further investigations show that the racialism/multiculturalism policies and the Chinese domestic political economy determine the periodization together, especially the former. Subsequently, comparisons among the Chinese diasporas in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States suggest the similar “peak” and “bottom” periodization, indicators and determinants. Furthermore, comparisons between the Korean and the Chinese diasporas in these countries reveal the homeland political impacts on the latter are more significant. Therefore, the four-periodization Chinese diasporic framework would be a particular reference for global diasporic studies.

TL;DR: In the wake of challenging structural situations surrounding the effects of economic austerity in Greece, the accounts of these young women are understood with reference to their options on finding and sustaining intimate relationships, leading some women to question traditional ideas of patriarchy, gender norms and the desirability of maintaining ties with economically inactive men as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: This study seeks to examine intimate relationships and attitudes towards such ties, among Greek young women (n = 36). In the wake of challenging structural situations surrounding the effects of economic austerity in Greece, the accounts of these young women are understood with reference to their options on finding and sustaining intimate relationships. It is argued that these accounts are filtered by the conditions of austerity, leading some women to question traditional ideas of patriarchy, gender norms and the desirability of maintaining ties with economically inactive men. However, the language through which the young women articulated experiences and attitudes towards intimate relations is highly individualising. These issues are assessed in the context of research on emerging adulthood focusing on how attitudes and practices relating to intimacy can be re-shaped through economic contexts.

TL;DR: For instance, the authors found that pre-operational thinking is characterized by irreversibility, i.e., by the lack of ability to grasp the starting and end points of actions and the transformations of objects that occur in perception.
Abstract: Historians, philologists and scholars of antiquity have described how people in pre-modern societies tend to see their own thought processes, decisions and actions as being influenced and made by external forces. It was recognized early on that this mystical interpretation of actions could be an indication of a different structuring of the archaic psyche. It was claimed that this psyche was characterized by a lower reflexivity. Modern cross-cultural psychology has the experimental methods and theoretical concepts to test these bold theses of historians. In particular, Piagetian psychology has carried out countless experiments on people from pre-modern societies, which have served to test the level of reflexivity. Pre-operational thinking is characterized by irreversibility, i.e., by the lack of ability to grasp the starting and end points of actions and the transformations of objects that occur in perception. This corresponds to a lack of introspection and reflexivity. It is therefore possible to connect the merely descriptive procedures of historians and social scientists with the experimental test methods of psychologists. One arrives at surprising results that go so far as to better understand the internal psychology of the people depicted in the Homeric epics.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the potential changes related to the pandemic in terms of the responsibilities of sociology and categorically analyze these changes based on the concepts of daily life, labor, class, body and space.
Abstract: During a time when various analyses and discourses are produced on Coronavirus, it became apparent once again that the main subject of sociology is social matters. Sociology is concerned with social subjects, and as society changes, sociology is expected to analyze these changes with different theories. The recent pandemic, which has been affecting the entire world, also requires the use of sociology. During this period, in which social changes have accelerated and the need to produce new concepts in relation to the said changes has emerged, sociology has to fulfill this need with various methods. With the pandemic, it has become necessary to reevaluate the concepts of labor, space, body, state, risk and virtual field. This will perhaps be the biggest responsibility of sociology. Only sociology can find solutions to the social shortcomings and problems that may arise following the pandemic. The main problems and deficiencies can be resolved with the analyses provided by sociology. In this context, sociology is tasked with undertaking this great responsibility and ensuring that sociological analyses are successfully integrated into society. In the present study, it was aimed to discuss the potential changes related to the pandemic in terms of the responsibilities of sociology and categorically analyze these changes based on the concepts of daily life, labor, class, body and space.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the relationship between monetary policy and macroeconomic performance in Nigeria during 1981-2018 and found that in the short run, lag value of inflation rate, exchange rate appreciation and unexpected appreciation (shift dummy) could reduce inflation rate while lower MPR and high volume of money in circulation could stimulate inflation rate.
Abstract: This study investigated the relationship between monetary policy and macroeconomic performance in Nigeria during 1981-2018. The stochastic properties of the time series data were examined using both conventional and unit root tests with structural breaks to account for shift dummy in the series. Their results indicates that the series are combination of both I(0) and I(1) in the same specification which prompted the use of ARDL. The results revealed that in the short run, lag value of inflation rate, exchange rate appreciation and unexpected appreciation (i.e., shift_dummy) could reduce inflation rate while lower MPR and high volume of money in circulation could stimulate inflation rate. Also, lag value of unemployment rate, high MPR and exchange rate depreciation significantly stimulate unemployment rate while unexpected appreciation reduce it. Low MPR and exchange rate depreciation could stimulate GDP growth rate while unexpected appreciation in exchange rate retards GDP growth in Nigeria. In the long run, inflation rate is constrained by exchange rate appreciation while depreciation promotes growth but stimulate unemployment rate in Nigeria. Also, MS2 stimulates inflation and unemployment rate but produce negative effect on GDP growth in Nigeria. Based on the results, the policy implications were drawn for Nigeria. Monetary authority should use its policy instruments to minimize pressures on the exchange rate, inflation and foreign reserves. This could be done by design policy measures that promote the value of Naira and check exchange rate fluctuation. Also, monetary policy instruments must be as supportive so as to ensure price stability, reduce unemployment rate and consequently brings about economic growth.

TL;DR: Das et al. as discussed by the authors conducted a study to identify the farm women participation, association and cosmopoliteness with different organisations and to analyze their networking structure in a social system.
Abstract: Farm women need different types of farm information due to higher engagements in agriculture. It is observed from various studies that majority of the farm women were under low social participation and cosmopoliteness level. So, on the basis of the findings, a study was conducted to identify the farm women participation, association and cosmopoliteness with different organisations and to analysis their networking structure in a social system. The study was conducted in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal with the help of expost facto research design. It was found from the study that majority of the farm women were associated with one organisation and regularly involved in self-help groups. It was found from the study that the panchayat office, nearest town, kisan mandi, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, nearest city and the post office play important roles for networking the farm women. *Address for correspondence: Mr. Ganesh Das Ph.D. Research Scholar E-mail:ganesh.ext@gmail.com INTRODUCTION A social network is a social structure comprising of different types of social actors, sets of dyadic ties and other social cooperation between actors. Chowdhury and Bose (2014) reported that social participation positively affects access to agricultural information by the farm women. Information is one of the most significant contributions for employment and communication networks assume a significant job in sharing this information in rural society. Productive progression of information identified with cultivating guarantees that social learning process in the network gets moving and brings about the adoption of innovations (Haldar et al. 2016). The social network works within and outside the social system and accepts a central activity in the resolution policy of the rural poor. Informal communities, in this sense, give a strategy of advantage willingness from those with whom one needs to position affiliation. It is based on the examination of instances of associations among people, associations, states, and such social components – both apparently and numerically (Jamali and Abolhassani 2006; Misra et al. 2014). With the developing volume of applied accurate works with Social Network Analysis (SNA), experts have found it reasonably successful in thinking about complex systems, be it characteristic or human-managed. The use of Social Network Analysis (SNA) is of explicit hugeness for structures depicted by a display of actors and better than average collection in their distribution of information (Scott and Carrington 2011; Misra et al. 2014). A social network gives a lot of strategies for dissecting the structure of entire social substances just as a collection of hypotheses clarifying the examples saw in these structures (Wasserman and Faust 1994). A communication network comprises of interconnected people who are connected by the deliberate series of information, and its investigation recognises the communication structure in the system (Rogers and Kincaid 1981). Rural women need different types of farm information due to higher engagements in agriculture. It was found from various studies that a larger part of the farmers and farm women had low and medium degree of social participation and cosmopoliteness (Nayak 1995; Deshmukh et al. 2003; Ajotikar 2006; Kikon 2010; Sunil and Manjula 2010; Waman 2010; Rudroju 2013; Haldar 2014; Nayak 2015; Rizal 2016; Dash 2017). Farm women network with large numbers of formal and informal organisations for training, information sharing, information seeking, information exchange, decision making, financial planning, extension programme, family planning, child care, educational 2 GANESH DAS AND SARTHAK CHOWDHURY J Soc Sci, 63(1-3): 1-8 (2020) development, health awareness, food processing, home management, nutritional development, social security and others purposes. But the mobility, involvement and contact of farm women may vary according to the type of organisation. So it is very important to know the strong social networking actor in a social system for diffusion agricultural information to the farm women in a short time. Hence a study was needed to analyse the networking structure of farm women in the social system for the diffusion of agricultural information. The objective of the study was to identify the farm women participation, association and cosmopoliteness with different organisations and to analysis their networking structure in a social system.

Abstract: The study aims to identify the implementation of Community-based Tourism to sustain Giriloyo Batik Tourism Village as a sustainable tourism destination. The identification analysis of the Community-based approach is based on thirteen fundamental factors of the ideal Community-based Tourism developed and adopted from related existing literature. This study is a qualitative study with an in-depth interview and a thematic analysis method. The results of the study showed that tourism development began after Yogyakarta’s earthquake through supports from NGOs and the Government. Community-based Tourism is implemented which has the characteristics of the thirteen factors of the ideal model of Community-based Tourism I identified. However, there is a difference between the ideal and the fact. The most remarkable gap is in community participation, which in Giriloyo is limited and very active within the Batik Association led by the core members. Stakeholders’ roles are crucial in enabling tourism to flourish in Giriloyo Village. The primary stakeholders are Village Government, Local and Regional Tourism Offices Department, and NGOs. Community-based Tourism has positive impacts, mainly in terms of socio-cultural, economic, and environment. Despite the positive impacts, the community is still struggling with several issues, such as regeneration within the organization, domestic waste management, and product innovation. Concrete efforts are needed to ensure the sustainability of Giriloyo Batik Tourism Village in the long-term.

TL;DR: In the case of the Greek General Chemical State Laboratory (GCSL), the TD-ABC method and monitoring system have been applied in order to determine the resources (inputs) and activities drivers, to allocate the activity cost to the cost objects and to monitor the public services/goods (outputs) as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The international globalized environment and the financial crisis have generated new demands with internals (citizens-users) and externals (creditors) pressuring the governments to control public spending and improve efficiency in the supply of public goods/services. The control of the public sector costs seems more important now, in the context of the financial and fiscal crisis of 2008. Activity Based Costing (ABC) and Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TD-ABC) are recent innovations in cost accounting methods used for determining ‘true’ costs. In the light of current practices, this paper aims to showcase the need and importance of activity based costing in the public sector, in order to promote more effective financial management, a higher degree of transparency and accountability of public spending and to disseminate a ‘cost culture’ in the public administration. In the case of the Greek General Chemical State Laboratory (GCSL), the TD-ABC method and monitoring system have been applied in order to determine the resources (inputs) and activities drivers, to allocate the activity cost to the cost objects and to monitor the public services/goods (outputs).
