TL;DR: The habit of defecation in rivers is rarely found in Yogyakarta and such habit will diminish naturally, however, there are some behaviors which give similar effects as defecating in rivers which the society does not know could lead to the presence of faecal colibacteria.
Abstract: This study started from data of Riskesdas of the Ministry of Health which regards Special Region of Yogyakarta as a region with a good habit of defecating. However, according to a research conducted by the Environment Agency in Yogyakarta, all rivers in this region contain faecal colibacteria far above the threshold. This study aims to explain the factors that led to contamination of rivers by faecal colibacteria in Yogyakarta. The researcher conducted observation in the rivers in Yogyakarta and interviewed some people who lived near the rivers regarding their habit and knowledge about the rivers’ condition. This study concluded that the habit of defecating in rivers is rarely found in Yogyakarta and such habit will diminish naturally. However, there are some behaviors which give similar effects as defecating in rivers. The society does not know that such behaviors could lead to the presence of faecal colibacteria. More importantly, although the rivers in Yogyakarta contain faecal colibacteria which UNICEF considers as harmful, the society does not confirm that such condition is harmful. This way, such unhealthy behavior of the society still exists.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the effectiveness of community empowerment optimalization model in the effort to improve nutrition status and found that this activity could not result maximum effectiveness level due to the leadership style tends to paternalistic which is dominated by otoritarism, causing community empowerment by cadre members and Family Welfare Program which are the potential that will be utilized can play maximum role.
Abstract: Indonesia which is a developed country, has community health issue, as nowadays face a double concern of nutrition problem. Based on the data in 2007 to 2010, over nutrition prevalence on children under five years was 14.0%, increase from condition in 2007 which was 12.2%, aligned with poor and malnutrition prevalence. Programs applied has not resulted nutrition status improvement as expected. The problem in this research is how does the effectiveness of community empowerment optimalization model in the effort to improve nutrition status. Qualitative approach is used to evaluate model implementation, with focus of the research is model implementation based on the input, process and output. Respondents are determined by purposive technique. While the instruments are observation guide, interview guide, and FGD guide. Analysing Technique by Miles and Huberman model. The quantitative approach, to assess model effectiveness, with data-fill form intrument. The calculation is viewed from number increase and effectiveness criteria from Sugiyono. Local potential optimalization in the effort to improve nutrition status indicate effectiveness criteria (60%), This activity could not result maximum effectiveness level due to the leadership style tends to paternalistic which is dominated by otoritarism, causing community empowerment by cadre members and Family Welfare Program which are the potential that will be utilized can play maximum role.

TL;DR: Low iodine consumption was shown to be associated with stunting in Bengkulu City, which is located along coastal area, hence it has potentially high iodine food sources.
Abstract: The high prevalence of stunting is influenced by nutritional intake. Iodine is an important micronutrient for growth. Bengkulu City is located along coastal area, hence it has potentially high iodine food sources. However, stunting prevalence was still high. This was a cross-sectional study conducted from March to July 2016 which aimed to determine the relationship between iodine consumption and linear growth of children under five years old in Malabero coastal area of Bengkulu City. The population were children aged 2-5 years old with a sample of 73 children. Measurement of linear growth was based on AHZ index using microtoice with capacity of 200 cm and accuracy of 0.1 cm. Iodine intake was measured based on semiquantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). The results showed that 71.2% of children under five years old did not had sufficient iodine consumption with average percentage of iodine sufficiency 47.7% ± 0.456. There were 53.5% of children under five years old who experienced stunting. Low iodine consumption was shown to be associated with stunting. There were 73.1% children under five years old with insufficient iodine intake who were stunted while only 4.8% children under five years old with sufficient iodine intake who were stunted.
