Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, microflotation tests were performed on pure mineral systems involving calcite, apatite, quartz and hematite, and the results showed that all the minerals were depressed by the polysaccharides in the following decreasing depression order: tapioca starch (made up of approximately 17% amylose and 83% ammonium), amylopectin, amylopeectin and amylosophage, and Amylose, with a constant depressant concentration of 10 mg/l.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the principles of the use of a hydrophobic, highly negatively charged, bacterium, Mycobacterium phlei, as a flocculating agent for finely divided hematite suspensions and a flotation collector for hematites are investigated.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe how sulphydryl collector chemistry affects the performance of base-metal sulphide flotation, particularly in terms of kinetics and selectivity.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the role of sodium sulphide in amine flotation of the silicate zinc minerals willemite and hemimorphite is discussed and the possibility of partial replacement of sodium sulfide by sodium hydroxide, with significant benefits in terms of reagnet costs and environmental impact.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The analysis of gold deportment with the diagnostic leaching technique has opened a research field to gain more insight into the fundamentals of the kinetic behaviour of gold dissolution from refractory ores as discussed by the authors.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the importance of the work of Bagnold on particle-particle interactions in sheared flows has been highlighted, which has been widely cited in the gravity concentration literature.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model that accounts for this phenomenon is proposed and compared for laboratory and industrial data, and possible mechanisms are discussed for cyclone underflow in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Diagnostic leaching is an analytical tool which was developed at the Anglo American Research Laboratories to examine the deportment of gold in ore or any type of plant product as discussed by the authors, which can be carried out on fairly representative samples and produces easily interpreted results.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: An overview of reagent development in the past two decades is given in this article with emphasis on recent trends and applications, as well as an overview of the current state of the art.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the status of mineral processing models, and the simulator structures in which they are used are reviewed, with particular reference to those incorporated in the JKMRC Simulator, JKSimMet. and its derivatives.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the specific rates of biooxidation of arsenopyrite and pyrite were found to be very similar at 0,15 d −1 or as mass rates, for both types of materials.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the mean fluid velocity distribution was determined on two spirals having different metallurgical objectives by a stream sampling and simultaneous depth gauging technique, using data obtained from previously reported flow visualisation experiments giving the angle of deviation of the secondary current from the primary flow direction.

TL;DR: In this article, the presence of calcite tended to enhance coagulation and adsorption of heavy metals: neutralization of surface H+ ions by the calcite was considered responsible.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that only with SPA is it possible to obtain higher grade tin concentrates containing more than 40% Sn at high recoveries, and the basis for this is the named collector, a highly developed reagent system and a special flotation technology.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of mineral species of selected sulphide minerals namely, synthetic covellite, millerite and pyrrhotite was investigated using the electrokinetic technique.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Byron Knelson is the inventor of the centrifugal concentrator that bears his name as mentioned in this paper, which has virtually revolutionized gravity recovery and has been made in over 50 countries.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed batch cell flotation models with respect to their suitability for genuine prediction of batch cell behaviour and found that single or double distributed first-order kinetics models yield an adequate prediction of the batch cell kinetics.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a structured and up-to-date review of the ion flotation subject, to examine some recent developments, and to indicate some potential applications of the technique.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a solution chemistry study showed that acidized sodium silicate conditioning leads to preferential dissolution of calcite, which reduces collector adsorption on calcite and removes the floated calcite from the rougher concentrate.

Journal ArticleDOI
