TL;DR: The Verhulst model on time series error for middle long-term throughput forecasting shows that when the throughput increases according to the curve with S type, not only higher forecasting accuracy can be obtained, but also the superiority and features of grey system model can be reserved.
Abstract: The grey system model is efficient for long-term port throughput forecasting. However, it is imperfect when the throughput increases in the curve with S type or the increment of throughput is in the saturation stage. In this case, the throughput forecasting error of grey system model will become larger and the result is unaccepted. According to the increment law of port throughput and through typical examples, we propose the Verhulst model on time series error for middle long-term throughput forecasting. The result shows that when the throughput increases according to the curve with S type, not only higher forecasting accuracy can be obtained, but also the superiority and features of grey system model can be reserved.

TL;DR: Based on the spot investigation data, and by the numerical simulation and harmonic analysis, it is concluded that the tidal mark of the Yangtze River is located between Anqing and Nanjing, the tidal current mark is between Zhenjiang and Jiangxinsha as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In the 1 000 km long tidal reach of the Yangtze River,semi-diurnal tide wave goes against the stream from the estuary arrives upstream of Anqing,Anhui province. The reach is divided into the with-tide area and without-tide area by the tidal mark, and the current characteristics change area is divided by the tidal current mark. Therefore, the location of them is significant for the economic development, agriculture planning, ecological environment, navigation, waterway engineering, harbor construction, navigation safety and scientific development, etc.of the area.Based on the spot investigation data, and by the numerical simulation and harmonic analysis,it is concluded that the tidal mark of the Yangtze River is located between Anqing and Nanjing, the tidal current mark is located between Zhenjiang and Jiangxinsha. The new idea is quite different from the tradition idea,i.e.,in general regard, the tidal mark of the Yangtze River is located between Tongling and Wuhu of Anhui province, and the tidal current mark is located downstream Jiangyin.

TL;DR: In this article, a multi-objective optimal model is set up for project with multiobjective optimization theory, and an example is introduced, which indicates that VEGA can efficiently solve multipleobjective project optimization problems.
Abstract: Time, cost and quality are the three major control items for project management. The best solution for a multi-objective project is to achieve the harmonious unification of these three items as much as possible.A multi-objective optimal model is set up for project with multi-objective optimization theory. The steps of VEGA are given and an example was introduced, which indicates that VEGA can efficiently solve multiple-objective project optimization problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system dynamics method was used for port throughput prediction, which was able to give an overall consideration to all factors affecting port throughput predication, and give favorable solution to the errors in prediction of port throughput due to social and economic development.
Abstract: System dynamics method was used for port throughput predication. The model established was able to give an overall consideration to all factors affecting port throughput predication, and give favorable solution to the errors in prediction of port throughput due to social and economic development. The proposed model was verified to be effective and feasible by simulation using relevant statistical data of port volume of Ningbo City.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the effect of back silting on the maintenance of the Yangtze Estuary channel, and found that the amount of movable sediment around the river mouth is larger than the total quantity of sediment from the river valley due to resuspension process of the sediment.
Abstract: With the completion of the first and second phases of the improvement project of Yangtze Estuary deepwater channel, the quantity of back silting is under control.Analyzing the reasons,we noticed that the total quantity of sediment passing through the Yangtze Estuary from the Yangtze Valley has decreased obviously in recent 10 years, while the sediment concentration around the river mouth hasn't reduced along with it.The total amount of movable sediment around the river mouth is larger than the total quantity of sediment from the Yangtze Valley due to the resuspension process of the sediment, which results in that the decrease of sediment from the Yangtze Valley can't improve the maintenance condition of the channel. On the other hand, the analysis of river facies relation and data of bathymetric survey show that the area of shoals in the Yangtze Estuary is decreasing in recent 10 years, which is relevant to the reducing and thinning of sediment transport from the Yangtze Valley.Within a period of time, the fluvial processes are getting active, which increases the movement of sediment and results in unfavorable effect on the maintenance of the channel.
