TLDR
Basophils are multifunctional haematopoeitic cells primarily produced in the bone marrow and after maturation, they reside in the circulation until recruited into tissue at sites of inflammation as discussed by the authors.
Abstract
Basophils are the least abundant of peripheral blood leukocytes and have long been associated with myeloproliferative disorders 1 .Data suggests that varied causes of basophilia are commonly overlooked. This article aims to provide an overview of basophilia and its associated causes. Basophils are multifunctional haematopoeitic cells primarily produced in the bone marrow. After maturation, they reside in the circulation until recruited into tissue at sites of inflammation. They number upto 0.1x10 9 /L of blood.

Disaster Management in Rural and Remote Primary Health Care: A Scoping Review

TL;DR: In this article, a scoping review aimed to map the roles of rural and remote primary health care professionals (PHCPs) during disasters was conducted, and the search was conducted over seven electronic databases according to a priori protocol.

Engaging paramedic students in research: A case report

TL;DR: In this article, the use of volunteer undergraduate students to support simulated training for peers is common in Paramedic Science, however, there are limited examples of engaging paramedic student-volunteers in research as compared to that reported in cognate disciplines such as Medicine and Nursing.

Basophil effector function and homeostasis during helminth infection.

TL;DR: Activated basophils promoted systemic eosinophilia, were associated with differentiation of alternatively activated macrophages in the lung, and contributed to efficient worm expulsion, demonstrating that basophil play a crucial role as effector cells in type 2 immune responses.

Incidence and clinical significance of peripheral and bone marrow basophilia.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that marrow basophilia is a specific, but not sensitive, marker of myeloproliferative and dysmyelopoietic syndromes.

TL;DR: The concept that marrow basophilia is a specific, although not sensitive, marker of disruption of the normal marrow maturation controls is supported.
