TLDR
A class of Petri nets which are reversible, live, and can be kept bounded, which is expected to shed light on the design, management and control of large scale manufacturing systems since modular approach is a way to cope with complexity.
Abstract
This paper introduces a class of Petri nets which are reversible, live, and can be kept bounded. Furthermore, these Petri nets have output transitions that can be fired independently from each other. These properties are required when modeling manufacturing systems. Another important property is that the integration of models which belong to this class of Petri nets still belongs to the same class, assuming that the integration is performed following rules which reflect common manufacturing practice. As a result, the qualitative properties of the module models are preserved. The results obtained in this paper are expected to shed light on the design, management and control of large scale manufacturing systems since modular approach is a way to cope with complexity.

An Incremental Petri Net-Based Approach to the Modeling of Production Sequences in Manufacturing Systems

TL;DR: A Petri net-based methodology for the modeling of production sequences conceived as an incremental process, which progressively adds subnets to a partial model until all specifications have been included, preventing possible design mistakes from leading to deadlocks.

Modeling and logic controller specification of flexible manufacturing systems using behavioral traces and Petri net building blocks

TL;DR: The paper puts together a trace-based formal specification method and a compositional Petri nets approach with predefined building blocks, leading to a unified framework whose goal is to cope with the complexity of the FMSs behaviors and constraints.

Modeling Complex System Using T-subnet based Hierarchical Petri Nets

TL;DR: Because of live loopbacks owned by Engineering Subnets, the same interface and service as the original module are reserved after the transformation between an Engineering Subnet and the corresponding transition, mean while fewer preconditions are required for the Engineering Sub Net compared with current researches.
