A Complexity Measure

TLDR
Several properties of the graph-theoretic complexity are proved which show, for example, that complexity is independent of physical size and complexity depends only on the decision structure of a program.
Abstract
This paper describes a graph-theoretic complexity measure and illustrates how it can be used to manage and control program complexity. The paper first explains how the graph-theory concepts apply and gives an intuitive explanation of the graph concepts in programming terms. The control graphs of several actual Fortran programs are then presented to illustrate the correlation between intuitive complexity and the graph-theoretic complexity. Several properties of the graph-theoretic complexity are then proved which show, for example, that complexity is independent of physical size (adding or subtracting functional statements leaves complexity unchanged) and complexity depends only on the decision structure of a program.

Metrics in software quality assurance

J. E. Gaffney
TL;DR: The nature of “software quality” and some software metrics are defined and their relationship to traditional software indicators such as “maintainability’ and “reliability” are suggested.

Online class imbalance learning and its applications in fault detection

TL;DR: It is found that SOB can balance the performance between classes very well across different data domains and produce stable G-mean when learning constantly imbalanced data streams, but it is sensitive to sudden changes in class imbalance, in which case SOB's predecessor undersampling-based online bagging (UOB) is more robust.

Mining Software Repositories to Assist Developers and Support Managers

TL;DR: This paper presents approaches and tools which mine and transform static record keeping software repositories to active repositories used by researchers to gain empirically based understanding of software development, and by practitioners to predict, plan and understand various aspects of their project.

When Bugs Sing

TL;DR: The results of the experiment indicate that a formal musical framework can act as a medium for communicating information about program behaviour, and that the information communicated could be used to assist with the task of locating bugs in faulty programs.

Analytics for software development

TL;DR: This paper proposes software analytics which holds out the promise of helping the managers of software projects turn their plentiful information resources, produced readily by current tools, into insights they can act on.

A genealogy of control structures

TL;DR: It is argued further that there is insufficient evidence to warrant more than if-then-else, while-do, and their variants and the importance of one-in, one-out control structures as operational abstractions.
