It can be shown that the proposed scheme will outperform traditional MANET protocols for this class of ad-hoc networks, which utilizes digital maps and the geographical position of the nodes.Abstract:
As intelligent transportation systems move towards advanced communication systems, it is fair to assume that every vehicle will be equipped with a digital map database, GPS receiver and 802.11 based radio in the near future. Ad-hoc networks by definition are infrastructure-less and are formed on the fly. Mobile nodes in the form of vehicles can effectively form ad-hoc networks. In this paper we present a routing algorithm and an addressing scheme for such a class of ad-hoc networks, which utilizes digital maps and the geographical position of the nodes. It can be shown that, for this class of ad-hoc networks the proposed scheme will outperform traditional MANET protocols.read more

Estimating the Relevance of Information in Inter-Vehicle Ad Hoc Networks
TL;DR: This paper proposes a new technique to estimate the relevance of data to the drivers in inter-vehicle ad hoc networks and identifies and classify the different types of information that may be shared on the roads and proposes a unified solution to support all those types of data.

GPS-based message broadcast for adaptive inter-vehicle communications
TL;DR: This work proposes new broadcast protocols that make use of global positioning system (GPS) information to enhance the performance of broadcast service in IVC, and proposes two algorithms that effectively reduce the number of re-broadcast messages without affecting thenumber of hosts (vehicles) that receive the broadcast.
