A experimental study of the effect of inerts on gas-solid reactions☆

TLDR
In this article, a reaction system involving capture of CO 2 by freshly prepared lime pellets was chosen and varying amounts of inert particles were added to the reactive particles to study the effect of this addition on the progress of the reaction.

Studies in the thermal decomposition of natural siderites in the presence of air

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the thermal decomposition of Indian siderite samples in the presence of air using both isothermal and nonisothermal techniques and showed that the kinetics of the reaction followed the Avrami-Erofee'v model.

Calcium acetate as a sorbent precursor for the removal of carbon dioxide from gas streams at high temperature

TL;DR: The feasibility of a process for the high-temperature, high-pressure separation of CO2 from coal-derived gas streams based upon the noncatalytic gas-solid reaction CaO(s)+CO2(g) ⇆ CaCO3(S) is being investigated as mentioned in this paper.

Physical Structure and Chemical and Mineralogical Composition of the Mazidagı (Turkey) Phosphate Rock

TL;DR: In this paper, the physical structure and chemical and mineralogical composition of Mazidagi (Turkey) phosphate rock have been investigated by using chemical analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal analysis, mercury porosimetry, and BET surface area methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flue gas desulfurization with phosphate rock in a fluidized bed

TL;DR: In this article, the suitability of Mazidagi (Turkey) phosphate ore as an alternative raw material for limestone and dolomite in flue gas desulfurization has been investigated.

A novel regenerable sorbent for so2

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study was undertaken to examine the potential of iron oxide present in red mud -a waste product from Bayer's alumina process - as a sorbent for SO2 capture by dry process.

A structural model for gas-solid reactions with a moving boundary-II: The effect of grain size, porosity and temperature on the reaction of porous pellets

TL;DR: In this article, a structural model is presented for the non-catalytic reaction between a porous solid and a gas stream, which incoporates parameters such as solid grain size, porosity, effective pore diffusion coefficient and allows the quantitative assessment of the role played by these in determining the overall reaction rate.

A structural model for gas—solid reactions with a moving boundary—V an experimental study of the reduction of porous nickel-oxide pellets with hydrogen

TL;DR: In this article, the reduction of porous nickel-oxide pellets with hydrogen within the temperature range 224 −412°C was investigated using a previously published model for gas-solid reactions.

The variable property grain model applied to the zinc oxide-hydrogen sulfide reaction

TL;DR: The variable property grain model, including the effect of grain diffusion resistance, has been applied to experimental results from the reaction of hydrogen sulfide with zinc oxide as discussed by the authors, where grain radius is assumed to vary under the combined effects of sintering and extent of reaction property variations are correlated by the specific surface area.
