A review of procedures for the analysis and design of concrete structures to resist missile impact effects

R.P. Kennedy
- 01 May 1976 -
- Vol. 37, Iss: 2, pp 183-203
TLDR
In this paper, the effects of a hard impact on a concrete barrier wall are discussed. But this paper only deals with the effect of "hard" missile impact and does not deal with the impact on "soft" barrier walls.

Vulnérabilité des dalles en béton sous impact : caractérisation, modélisation et validation.

Xuan Dung Vu
TL;DR: In this article, a caracteriser experimentalement le comportement du beton lorsque celui-ci est soumis a des sollicitations generees par un impact (compression confinee and traction dynamique) ; and developper un outil numerique robuste permettant de modeliser son comportements de maniere fiable.

Critical impact energy for spalling, tunnelling and penetration of concrete slab impacted with hard projectile

TL;DR: In this article, an analytical model is developed to predict the required critical impact energy for maximum penetration without rear effects in concrete slabs when it is impacted with hard projectile, which is the basic element of designing protective concrete structure against the local impact damage of hard missile.

Enhancing impact resistance of concrete slabs strengthened with FRPS and steel fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, the compressive and flexural behaviors of normal strength concrete (NSC) and steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), which includes 30 mm long hooked steel fibers in volume fractions of 0.5, 0.75, 1.25, and 1.5%, were evaluated under static loading conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Penetration of rigid projectiles into concrete based on improved cavity expansion model

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed an approximate approach for nondeformable projectile normal penetration into concrete targets with clear mechanics concepts, where normal/tangential stress acting at the projectile-target interface in the tunnel region is obtained according to the spherical cavity expansion penetration model, where the fractured target medium near the expansion cavity is perfectly described by Tresca's law.
Journal ArticleDOI

Model of fragmentation distribution over a protective wall

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of perforated witness plates that were part of an experimental setup of previously published field tests is presented, showing that the spatial mass distribution of the fragments was not uniform over the wall height, and that an intense strip was characterized by a high magnitude of the fragmentation mass.

Probabilistic assessment of aircraft hazard for nuclear power plants

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of aircraft accidents is presented to establish the probability of an aircraft hitting a nuclear power plant, based on United States data, and new formulas are proposed to cover the range of parameters encountered in aircraft engine impact.

Probabilistic assessment of aircraft hazard for nuclear power plants. i.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of aircraft accidents is presented to establish the probability of an aircraft hitting a nuclear power plant, based on United States data, and the authors concluded that the aircraft risk is usually acceptably low for the typical case studied here.
