TLDR
A method for computing the short-time Fourier transform of a discrete-time signal by convolving it with one of a family of infinite-duration windows h(nT)=(nT)ke−αnT, k integer which greatly alleviates the problem of spectral leakage which is inherent in the more traditional DFT method.

Subband Likelihood-Maximizing Beamforming for Speech Recognition in Reverberant Environments

TL;DR: This paper introduces subband likelihood-maximizing beamforming (S-LIMABEAM), a new microphone-array processing algorithm specifically designed for speech recognition applications and creates a subband filtering architecture that explicitly accounts for the manner in which recognition features are computed.

Estimation of wavelet and short-time Fourier transform sonograms of normal and diabetic subjects' electrogastrogram.

TL;DR: The results showed that WT sonograms can be used to classify patients successfully as healthy or sick and that the WT method can help improve the quality of the sonogram of the EGG signals.

Spectral analysis of ground penetrating radar signals in concrete, metallic and plastic targets

TL;DR: In this paper, the spectral features which were selected to check the interaction of the electromagnetic wave with the type of material are: the power spectral density (PSD), short-time Fourier transform (STFT), and the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD).

Diagnosis and Classification of Diesel Engine Components Faults Using Time–Frequency and Machine Learning Approach

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented potential fault diagnosis techniques to detect and diagnose the scuffing faults developed on the diesel engine components using condition monitoring techniques such as vibration and acoustic emission analyses.

Models for approximating basilar membrane displacement

TL;DR: In this paper, three analytical models are developed for estimating the displacement of the basilar membrane in the human ear when the sound pressure at the eardrum is known, and the results are applied to the perception of pitch.

Models for approximating basilar membrane displacement — Part II. Effects of middle-ear transmission and some relations between subjective and physiological behavior

TL;DR: In this paper, the second half of results of a study on the peripheral ear were presented, where the authors derived computational models for approximating the mechanical displacement of the basilar membrane when the sound pressure at the eardrum is known.
