In this article, a stochastic model and a simulation of low grazing angle, forward scatter, over-water multipath applicable to microwave frequencies are described, using a coherent and an incoherent vector summation to describe the reflected signal.
Abstract
: This report describes a stochastic model and a simulation of low grazing angle, forward scatter, over-water multipath applicable to microwave frequencies. The model is based primarily on the work of Charles Beard, using a coherent and an incoherent vector summation to describe the reflected signal. A second order stochastic model and an associated stochastic simulation are described. Controlling parameters are sea state, radar frequency, transmitter/receiver geometry, and radar antenna patterns. A model is suggested for the incoherent spectrum when one or both radars are moving.

Target Localization in High-Coherence Multipath Environment Based on Low-Rank Decomposition and Sparse Representation

TL;DR: A target localization algorithm based on low-rank decomposition (LRD) and sparse representation (SR) framework is proposed that can effectively mitigate the effects of complex multipath interference without using any prior knowledge on the illuminated terrain and the reflecting paths.

Toward a Theory of Reflection by a Rough Surface

TL;DR: In this article, a series of integral expressions in which averages of the currents induced in the surface appear as unknown functions are given for the average currents; however, a qualitative discussion is given of a known formula for the specular reflection coefficient of a gently rolling surface.

Coherent and incoherent scattering of microwaves from the ocean

TL;DR: In this paper, experimental studies of microwave over-ocean propagation on line-of-sight paths were carried out at 5.3, 3.2, and 0.86 cm wavelength in 1955, in the Gulf of Mexico, between two oil drilling platforms one mile apart.

Phenomenological vector model of microwave reflection from the ocean

TL;DR: In this article, a model of one-way transmission of microwave electromagnetic signals over the ocean surface is developed from experiment, where the received signal is described as a vector sum of a constant direct signal, a coherent reflected signal, whose amplitude and phase are fixed by geometry and sea state, and a fluctuating reflected component of random amplitude and phases.
