Primary agriculture credit cooperatives (PACS) are more than 100 years old. Generating deposits is one of the ways to increase the resources to the PACS. Dependence on the external funds like borrowing from other cooperatives, refinancing can be substituted by increasing the deposits. This paper attempts to study deposits growth during 2001-2014 at national level, state level and the factors effecting the deposit mobilisation of the primary agriculture credit cooperative societies in India. This study showed that the cumulative annual growth rate of deposits during the period 2001-2014 at all national level is 14% and Kerala contributes 70% of the deposits of PACS in India in 2016. This study also showed that the number of members and gross value added in agriculture has positive and significant impact on the deposits, whereas number of societies had positive but insignificant impact on the deposits.
