TLDR
In this article, the breakage of anthracite in tumbling ball mills exhibits an unusual behavior of acceleration at fine levels of grinding by using the selection function and the primary breakage distribution parameters to predict the size distribution of Anthracite using the kinetics of grinding approach.

Prediction of product size distributions for a stirred ball mill

TL;DR: In this paper, the difference between ball mill grinding and stirred ball milling is discussed and a size energy model is proposed for simulation of stirred-ball milling, which has only two parameters.

Simulation of the grinding of coarse/fine (heterogeneous) systems in a ball mill

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the breakage kinetics and energy consumption of grinding coarse size feed in the presence of deliberately added fines for different material systems. But they do not consider the effect of fine additions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of Optimal Mill Operating Parameters during Grinding of Quartz with the Use of Population Balance Modeling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used population balance models to estimate the specific rate of breakage and the cumulative breakage parameters from mono-size, short-grinding time batch tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of fine particles on the kinetics and energetics of grinding coarse particles

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of material environment on grinding parameters and specific energy distribution was investigated in a dry-batch ball mill with coarse-fine particle mixtures, and it was shown that the breakage distribution function is environment-independent and that the specific energy consumed by coarse material increases as the ratio of coarse-to-fine material in the mill feed decreases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of particulate environment on the kinetics and energetics of dry ball milling

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the breakage kinetics and energetics of grinding coarse-size feed in the presence of deliberately added fines and found that the cumulative breakage distribution function for this situation does not change with mixture composition.

Methods for determination of breakage distribution parameters

TL;DR: The distribution of primary breakage products in laboratory mills can be estimated by batch grinding for short times by manipulating the data, and the second and third methods correcting for secondary breakage are given.

Breakage properties of some materials in a laboratory ball mill

TL;DR: In this article, the first-order specific rates of breakage and the cumulative primary daughter fragment distributions were determined in a small laboratory ball mill under standard conditions, including crystalline quartz, silicon carbide, three coals of different rank and a cement clinker.
