Journal ArticleDOI

The kinetics of the spontaneous, proton- and AlIII-catalysed hydrolysis of 1,5-anhydrocellobiitol Models for cellulose depolymerization in paper aging and alkaline pulping, and a benchmark for cellulase efficiency

TL;DR: In this paper, the kinetics of spontaneous, proton and AlIII-catalysed hydrolyses of the C 1 −O4′ bond in 1,5-anhydrocellobiitol have been measured at elevated temperatures (125.0–220.0
Journal ArticleDOI

17O- and 1H-NMR Studies of the Water Structure in Binary Aqueous Mixtures of Halogenated Organic Compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical shifts of water (17O- and 1H-NMR) and the spin-lattice relaxation time of water were measured on binary aqueous mixtures of halogenated ethanols, propanol, acetamide and acetone to investigate the effect of their halogen groups on water structure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Steric Effects in the Hydrolysis Reactions of N-Acylimidazoles. Effect of Aryl Substitution in the Leaving Group.

TL;DR: The additive nature of the steric rate-accelerating effects in the acyl group and the leaving group indicates an effect on the ease of C-N bond breaking; the hydrolysis reactions very likely proceed in a concerted manner without the formation of a stable tetrahedral intermediate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of pH on the photophysical properties of two new carboxylic-substituted iridium(III) complexes

TL;DR: Two cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes have been prepared based on 2-(4-diphenylamino-phenyl)-quinoline and incorporating carboxylic acid ethyl ester substituents at the 4-position of the quinoline ligand, demonstrating that they respond to the pH of the surrounding solvent environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

1H nmr study of hydrogen bonding of fluorinated alcohols with ethers

TL;DR: The hydrogen bonding of TFE and HFIP with t-BuOCH 3 (1) and PhOCH3 (2) was studied using 1 H nmr.
