Winter precipitation fields in the Southeastern Mediterranean area as seen by the Ku-band spaceborne weather radar and two C-band ground-based radars
TL;DR: In this paper, the same analysis has been applied to another C-band radar in the southeastern Mediterranean area, for the lowest elevation of the “Shacham” radar in Israel, the GR/TPR equivalent rain rate ratio was found to decrease by 6dB per decade.
Journal ArticleDOI
An improved algorithm in unipolar weather radar calibration for rainfall estimation
TL;DR: In this paper, a new calibration approach using altitude parameters and time-step-wise processing of reflectivity-rainfall (Z-R) rate relationship was introduced, which leads to introduce a new effective parameter and generate two new empirical coefficients in radar−rainfall relationship, such that the use of other effective parameters (distance from radar, altitudes and rainfall time duration) leads to optimum accuracy of Z-R relationship.
Journal ArticleDOI
Altitudes Effects in Calibration of Ground Doppler Radar for Rainfall Estimation
TL;DR: In this paper, the accuracy of ground-based radar rainfall prediction has been studied. But, there is less attention to the accuracy in different altitudes, distance from radar, and rainfall duration times.

The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Sensor Package
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a reference guide to users wishing to make use of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission data, which covers each of the three primary rainfall instruments: the passive microwave radiometer, the precipitation radar, and the Visible and Infrared Radiometer System on board the spacecraft.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rain profiling algorithm for the TRMM precipitation radar
TL;DR: In this paper, an algorithm that estimates the instantaneous profiles of the true radar reflectivity factor and rainfall rate from the radar reflectivities profiles observed by the precipitation radar (PR) onboard the TRMM satellite is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radar Measurement of Rainfall—A Summary
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors find that both confusion and misunderstanding exist about the inherent ability of radar to measure rainfall, about factors that contribute to errors, and about the importance of careful calibration and signal processing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radar precipitation measurement in a mountainous region
TL;DR: In this paper, a large-sample comparison between radar precipitation estimates and ground observations from a high-resolution gauge network reveals distinct improvements achieved by the modifications of the past 8 years.
