TLDR
In this article, the ecological model of density dependent organizational evolution is tested using data on the 7,709 breweries operating in the American market, covering the longest time period studied to date, these data allow for examination of three important issues that critics of the model have raised: applicability to commercial business organizations; plausibility of alternative interpretations involving size and mass; and measurement of legitimation.
Abstract
The ecological model of density dependent organizational evolution is tested using data on the 7,709 breweries operating in the American market Besides covering the longest time period studied to date, these data allow for examination of three important issues that critics of the model have raised: (1) applicability to commercial business organizations; (2) plausibility of alternative interpretations involving size and mass; and (3) measurement of legitimation Estimates of stochastic rates of organizational founding and mortality show that, while there is merit in some of the criticisms, both rates are nonetheless non-monotonically related to organizational density in ways predicted by the model In most instances, these relationships persist when the rate functions are specified with different socio-economic control variables The strong support found for the model helps reconcile some previously reported negative evidence

Suicidal Behavior and Alcohol Abuse

TL;DR: Evidence of the relationship between alcohol use and suicide through a search of MedLine and PsychInfo electronic databases is reviewed and multiple genetically-related intermediate phenotypes might influence the relationshipBetween alcohol and suicide.

Acute alcohol use and suicidal behavior: a review of the literature.

TL;DR: The case-crossover design may help to overcome some limitations of these studies and facilitate evaluation of associations and possible causal mechanisms by which acute alcohol use is linked to suicidal behavior.

Mortality and population drinking: a review of the literature.

TL;DR: By and large, there was little evidence for any cardioprotective effect at the population level, and a 1-litre increase in per capita consumption was associated with a stronger effect in northern Europe and Canada than in mid- and southern Europe.

A meta-analysis of acute use of alcohol and the risk of suicide attempt.

TL;DR: AUA is associated with increased likelihood of a suicide attempt, particularly at high doses, and such data should be incorporated into estimates of the burden of disease associated with alcohol use, which are currently limited by a consideration of only alcohol's chronic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alcohol and drug use in suicidal behaviour

TL;DR: Current evidence points to a causal role of alcohol and drug use disorders exerting a distal effect on suicidal behaviour, as well as risk estimates for drug use prior to a suicide attempt.

How durkheim theory used in young people suicide?

The provided paper does not mention Durkheim's theory being used specifically in relation to young people and suicide. The paper focuses on testing the ecological model of density-dependent organizational evolution using data on breweries in the American market.
