TLDR
In this article, the authors present the results of experiments concerning the motion of the yield and the loading surfaces and the interrelation between these two motions, and show that the yield surface tends to become tangent to the loading surface, and that the plastic strain vector is normal to yield surface.
Abstract
This paper presents the results of experiments concerning the motion of the yield and the loading surfaces and the interrelation between these two motions. It is shown that the yield surface tends to become tangent to the loading surface, and that the plastic strain vector is normal to the yield surface.

Computational plasticity for composite structures based on mathematical homogenization: Theory and practice

TL;DR: In this article, the authors generalize the classical mathematical homogenization theory for heterogeneous medium to account for eigenstrains and derive a close form expression relating arbitrary eigen-strains to the mechanical fields in the phases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in strength theories for materials under complex stress state in the 20th Century

TL;DR: A survey of the advances in strength theory (yield criteria, failure criterion, etc) of materials (including matellic materials, rock, soil, concrete, ice, iron, polymers, energetic material etc) under complex stress was presented in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bounds on overall instantaneous properties of elastic-plastic composites

TL;DR: In this article, the M inimum principles of plasticity are used to derive upper and lower bounds on ordered eigenvalues and on diagonal terms of instantaneous stiffness and compliance matrices of elastic-plastic composite aggregates subjected to uniform overall stress or strain increments.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental study of elastic-plastic behavior of a fibrous boron-aluminum composite

TL;DR: In this paper, the initial and subsequent yield surfaces and plastic strains were found for a fibrous boron-aluminum composite, and for the aluminum matrix, under many plane stress loading programs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Yield surfaces and loading surfaces. Experiments and recommendations

TL;DR: In this article, the concepts of yield surface and loading surface at room temperature and elevated temperature are discussed and experimental results on pure aluminum in support of these concepts are presented, and recommendations for future experimental research are presented.

On the description of anisotropic workhardening

TL;DR: In this paper, a model of workhardening is proposed which generalizes the known rules of isotropic and kinematic work-hardening by introducing the concept of a "Field of Workhardening moduli".
Journal ArticleDOI

A model of nonlinearly hardening materials for complex loading

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduced the concept of a bounding surface in the stress space which always encloses the loading surface, and a parameter defined by the relative position of the loading and the bounding surfaces, and the plastic work done during the most recent loading, determine the value of the plastic modulus.

The Theory of Plasticity: A Survey of Recent Achievements

TL;DR: In this article, a survey of recent achievements in the theory of plasticity is presented with emphasis on applications in mechanical engineering. But the authors do not discuss the theoretical foundations of limit analysis and their application to impact testing and blast damage.
