A method is proposed to determine the crack spacing and maximum crackwidth in reinforced concrete flexural members. The constants appearing in the proposed method are determined from a statistical analysis of the the test results of Hognestad, Clark and Baseet al. Experimental crackwidth values are compared with the crackwidth values computed from the equations given by CP110, Model Code, Gergely and Lutz and the proposed method and the results are discussed.read more

Influence of steel fibres on tension stiffening and cracking of reinforced geopolymer concrete
TL;DR: In this article, an experimental investigation was conducted to study the influence of steel fibres on the tension stiffening effect and cracking behavior of geopolymer concrete (GPC) prisms cast and tested under uniaxial tension.

Probabilistic analysis of the cracking of RC beams
Prakash Desayi,K. Balaji Rao +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, three beams of rectangular crosssection and having same cross-sectional dimensions were tested in two-point bending, over an effective span of 4.2 m. All three beams contained steel only in the tension zone and the tension steel was distributed in three different ways.

Bending moment-mean curvature relationship with constant axial load in the presence of tension stiffening
Giuseppe Creazza,R. Di Marco +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model for the determination of the bending moment-mean curvature relationship for beams subjected to combined bending and axial forces, taking tension stiffening effects into account, is presented.

Markov Chain Model for Cracking Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams
Prakash Desayi,K. Balaji Rao +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, nonhomogeneous Markov chains are proposed for modeling the cracking behavior of reinforced concrete beams subjected to monotonically increasing loads, which facilitates prediction of the maximum crackwidth at a given load given the crack width at a lower load level.

Reliability of reinforced concrete beams in limit state of cracking— failure rate analysis approach
Prakash Desayi,K. Balaji Rao +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the reliability of a reinforced concrete beam with respect to the limit state of crack width under monotonically increasing short-time loading conditions is estimated using the Monte Carlo technique and failure rate analysis.

Determination of maximum crack width in ferrocement flexural elements of channel cross section
Prakash Desayi,N. Ganesan +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a method is proposed to determine the maximum crack width in ferrocement flexural elements, and the constants appearing in the proposed method are evaluated using the test results of eight prototype channel-shaped ferroceramic flooring elements.
