An SDN controlled self-optimizing approach in circular array equipped small cells

TLDR
A scheme that equip the small cells with circular array and manage the spectrum resource with soft fractional frequency reuse (SFFR) approach and reduces the power consumption by applying Stackelberg Game strategy is presented.
Abstract
Software defined network (SDN) has been introduced for more scalability and flexibility in modem heterogeneous networks (HetNets). In this paper, we present a scheme that equip the small cells with circular array and manage the spectrum resource with soft fractional frequency reuse (SFFR) approach. By considering the users' demand that located in different directions and multiple layers, we reduce the power consumption by applying Stackelberg Game strategy. Simulation results show that the proposed self-optimizing scheme fulfills the traffic demands of the users with relatively low power utility.

TL;DR: Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the reference schemes, in which either coordination is not employed or employed in a static manner, in terms of cell edge throughput with a minimal impact on the network throughput and with some increase in complexity.

Green 5G Heterogeneous Networks Through Dynamic Small-Cell Operation

TL;DR: This work considers that the wireless users are uniformly distributed in the network, and proposes an optimal location-based operation scheme by gradually turning off the SBSs closer to the MBS, to achieve near-optimum power consumption in polynomial time.
