TLDR
The basic tools of image processing are employed in this study to ease the computation of the required parameters in the estimation of fuel spray characteristics.Abstract:
From water sprinklers to combustion devices of launch vehicles, the applications of the liquid injectors are innumerable. Owing to the usage of non-renewable sources, there is a global movement towards improvement in the existing combustion systems. Efficiency and fuel emissions are influenced by fuel spray characteristics. One of the techniques used to capture the information on spray characteristics is highspeed shadowgraphy. Estimation of the required parameters needs analysis of image series. An automated method to replace tiring manual calculations makes it the job of a few seconds. The basic tools of image processing are employed in this study to ease the computation.read more

Experimental study of diesel fuel atomization performance of air blast atomizer
TL;DR: In this paper, the spray performance of airblast atomizer is experimentally investigated under different operating conditions and different internal atomizer geometry, and the results indicate that the spray cone angle increases with increasing the atomizing air to fuel mass ratio and also by increasing the air swirler angle while it decreases by increasing distance between the fuel nozzle exit and the atomising air exit orifice ratio of zero.

Improving salt and pepper noise removal using a fuzzy mathematical morphology-based filter
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel filter, called the improved fuzzy mathematical morphology open-close filter (i-FMMOCS), is presented, which considerably improves the results obtained by the so-called fuzzy mathematical morphological filter, through the use of some fuzzy mathematical operators, especially designed to avoid theUse of the noisy pixels into the computations.

Robust Anisotropic Diffusion Scheme for Image Noise Removal
TL;DR: The provided PDE denoising approach is derived from the well-known Perona-Malik nonlinear diffusion model, representing an improved version of it, and model a novel diffusivity function and explain the mathematical reasons behind it.

The shadowgraph imaging technique and its modern application to fluid jets and drops
TL;DR: The shadowgraph technique is discussed in terms of some modern application to fluid visualization and the characterization of free-surface flows as mentioned in this paper, and three experimental setups were developed for different novel applications at different length scales: centimeter-long jets, millimeter-size sprays and micrometer-size droplets.
