Application of DoE in Common Rail Diesel Engine Optimization Design

TLDR
The comparison between calibration based on DoE model and normal calibration indicated that DoE theory could not only largely reduce the capability of the samples, time, and cost of these engine experiments, but also get good calibration results as the normal way.
Abstract
DoE(Design of experiments) theory is used in optimization of electronic high-pressure common-rail diesel engine. The testing plan based on the new DoE theory(supported by mathematic modeling and computer-aided modeling technology),adopted experiment-design programs,polynomial-modeling and calibration programs, and so on,is to make the modeling and calculation. The results of this study showed that DoE could more reasonably make the distribution of these testing samples even the number of these samples is less than usual. These chosen samples can reflect the exact information needed for MATLAB software model and complete the calibration of this diesel engine. The comparison between calibration based on DoE model and experimental result showed that DoE modeling could imitate the actual work condition perfectly. The comparison between calibration based on DoE model and normal calibration indicated that DoE theory could not only largely reduce the capability of the samples, time, and cost of these engine experiments, but also get good calibration results as the normal way.
