Hall–Petch relation and grain boundary slipping in Al Mg Sc alloys with fine equiaxed grain structure

TL;DR: In this article , a fine equiaxed grain structure and free of Mg segregation and dislocations were fabricated by friction stir processing and post-solution treatment to study the deformation behavior of Al Mg base alloys at room and elevated temperatures.

Inhibiting cracking and improving strength for additive manufactured Al CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy via changing crystal structure from BCC-to-FCC

TL;DR: In this article , the body-centered cubic (BCC) phase with very high hardness (∼670 HV) in LPBF printed AlxCoCrFeNi(x = 1, 0.7) HEAs causes cracking due to the plastic incompatibility between grain boundaries.

Revealing trace Si effect on precipitation behavior and properties of Cu-Cr-Zr alloy: Experiments and first-principles calculations

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of Si addition on precipitation behavior and related properties of Cu-Cr-Zr-(Si) alloy was investigated for higher performance, and it was indicated that the growth of Cr-rich phase in Cu-crZr-Si alloy is delayed, which may be attributed to the decrease of Cu/Cr interface energy due to the addition of Si, as confirmed by first principles calculations.

Quantitated heterogeneity of serrated flow and the microstructural analysis in stirred zone

TL;DR: In this paper , a general framework on the time structure of stress discontinuities associated with Portevin-Le Chatelier (PLC) effect was explored by the statistics and the quantitative analysis based on multifractal theory.

Friction Stir Welding and Processing

TL;DR: Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process that is used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding as discussed by the authors.

The Hardness of Metals

David Tabor
TL;DR: Hardness measurements with conical and pyramidal indenters as mentioned in this paper have been used to measure the area of contact between solids and the hardness of ideal plastic metals. But they have not yet been applied to the case of spherical indenters.
