Journal ArticleDOI

Analytical fractionation of silicon compounds in foodstuffs

TL;DR: In this article, a scheme for speciation analysis of inorganic and organic silicon compounds, with a special focus on polydimethylsiloxane, was presented for the determination of silicon compounds in selected foodstuffs available on the Polish market.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of polydimethylsiloxanes by 1H-NMR in wine and edible oils

TL;DR: Fourier transform 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was suitable for the quantitative determination of polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) in wine and edible oil samples and none of the levels of PDMS found in the food samples exceeded the permissible standards laid down by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
Journal ArticleDOI

Re‐evaluation of dimethyl polysiloxane (E 900) as a food additive

TL;DR: In this article, the FAF Panel wishes to acknowledge all European competent institutions, Member State bodies and other organisations that provided data for this scientific output, including the European Research Council (ERC), the European Academy of Sciences (EAS), and the European Parliament (EUC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Considerations on the Analysis of E-900 Food Additive: An NMR Perspective

TL;DR: The evolution of the regulation of the E900 additive is described, different analytic methods quantifying polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) are discussed, and a new method based on NMR suitable for analyzing the content of E900 in the form of PDMS in various types of food is proposed.
