TLDR
In this paper, a balanced feeder with wiper blades was developed and optimized to maximize the conveying velocity with no part clogging, but the design was based on linear feeders.
Abstract
Linear vibratory feeders and vibratory bowl feeders are widely used as part feeders in mass production industries. Making the helical track of the bowl feeder requires special tooling. This makes it expensive to adapt to product changes. Linear feeders are simpler in construction and relatively flexible enough to accommodate a variety of products. This paper provides an alternate design to vibratory bowl feeders. A balanced feeder experimental setup with wiper blades was developed and optimized to maximize the conveying velocity with no part clogging.

Part dynamics in the intermediate regime of a linear vibratory feeder

TL;DR: In this article , a mathematical model was developed that can predict the trend in conveying velocity in linear vibratory feeder in three distinct regimes, sliding, hopping and a combination of these two.

Effect of orientations of an irregular part in vibratory part feeders

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors designed a trap in such a way that preferred orientation should be the outcome from the feeder, and the gate for the trap is designed by the Markov chain analysis.

Determining the natural resting orientation of a part using drop test and theoretical methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the favorable orientation of a part is defined as the orientation in which the part rests on a horizontal surface and the most probable occurrence of orientation is considered as favorable orientation.

Modeling and throughput prediction for flexible parts feeders

TL;DR: It is shown how the throughput of the system may be obtained by both GSMP simulation and analytical techniques for GSMP models and the predictive capability of such models is demonstrated.
