Journal ArticleDOI

Metabolism in plant storage tissue slices

TL;DR: The tissue of resting plant storage organs can be activated by slicing into thin disks and incubation of these fragments in a moist atmosphere for different periods of time (“aging”) and a vigorous synthesis of various enzymes and structural proteins which enable the cell to greatly enhanced metabolic activities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genotoxic effects of crude juices from Brassica vegetables and juices and extracts from phytopharmaceutical preparations and spices of cruciferous plants origin in bacterial and mammalian cells

TL;DR: The present findings clearly indicate that cruciferous vegetables contain DNA damaging constituents and raise the question whether greatly increased consumption of Brassica vegetables or their concentrated constituents as a means for cancer prevention is indeed recommendable.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosynthesis of cyanidin in cell cultures of Haplopappus gracilis

TL;DR: Dihydroquercetin proved to be a good precursor for light-stimulated cyanidin biosynthesis in cell suspension cultures of Haplopappus gracilis.

Chemistry and biochemistry of plant pigments

T. W. Goodwin
TL;DR: This book will help you to understand the chemistry and biochemistry of plant pigments book much better and the system of this book of course will be much easier.
Journal ArticleDOI

Formation of m- and p-coumaric acids by enzymatic deamination of the corresponding isomers of tyrosine

A.C. Neish
- 01 Oct 1961 -
TL;DR: Koukkol and Conn as discussed by the authors showed that tyrase is distinct from the enzymes (or enzymes) catalyzing the deaminations of phenylalanine and m -tyrosine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and properties of chalcone-flavanone isomerase from soya bean seed

E Moustafa
- 01 May 1967 -
TL;DR: An enzyme catalysing the conversion of chalcones to the corresponding flavanones has been purified about 150-fold from soaked soya bean seed (Soja hispida).
