TLDR
Bootstrap methods for estimating confidence intervals have been surveyed in this article, with a focus on improving the accuracy of the standard confidence intervals in a way that allows routine application even to very complicated problems.
Abstract
This article surveys bootstrap methods for producing good approximate confidence intervals. The goal is to improve by an order of magnitude upon the accuracy of the standard intervals $\hat{\theta} \pm z^{(\alpha)} \hat{\sigma}$, in a way that allows routine application even to very complicated problems. Both theory and examples are used to show how this is done. The first seven sections provide a heuristic overview of four bootstrap confidence interval procedures: $BC_a$, bootstrap-t , ABC and calibration. Sections 8 and 9 describe the theory behind these methods, and their close connection with the likelihood-based confidence interval theory developed by Barndorff-Nielsen, Cox and Reid and others.

Confidence boosts serial dependence in orientation estimation.

TL;DR: An effect of confidence on future behavior, independent of task performance, is demonstrated and perceptual decisions incorporate recent history in an uncertainty-weighted manner, but where the uncertainty carried forward is a subjectively estimated and possibly suboptimal readout of objective sensory uncertainty.

Stability and distribution of steady-state somatosensory evoked potentials elicited by vibro-tactile stimulation.

TL;DR: Steady-state somatosensory evoked potentials (SSSEPs) have been elicited applying vibro-tactile stimulation to all fingertips of the right hand using a 200-Hz carrier frequency modulated with a rectangular signal to determine if SSSEPs can be classified with a classifier based on unseen data.

Remote patient monitoring acceptance trends among older adults residing in a frontier state

TL;DR: The longer participants used the technology, the more they perceived those important to them would want them to use it, indicating the levels of these factors were high and stable over the course of the study.

On the spatial scale of dispersal in coral reef fishes

TL;DR: It is concluded that low levels of genetic structure across large geographic areas are not necessarily indicative of extensive dispersal at ecological timescales, and there might be a correlation between minimum/maximum pelagic larval duration and dispersal in coral reef fishes.

Order and disorder in ecological time-series: Introducing normalized spectral entropy

TL;DR: Results show how Hsn is able to contribute to the ongoing debate on how to estimate spatio-temporal complexity of ecological systems, thus making a step forward in the proposed use of complexity as an ecological orientor.

Bootstrap Methods and Their Application

TL;DR: In this paper, a broad and up-to-date coverage of bootstrap methods, with numerous applied examples, developed in a coherent way with the necessary theoretical basis, is given, along with a disk of purpose-written S-Plus programs for implementing the methods described in the text.

Better Bootstrap Confidence Intervals

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the problem of setting approximate confidence intervals for a single parameter θ in a multiparameter family, and propose a method to automatically incorporate transformations, bias corrections, and so on.
