TLDR
The arboviruses mentioned in this article deserve special attention concerning the establishment/consolidation of compulsory control programs and effective combat of diseases in humans and domestic animals.
Abstract

Estimated risk of West Nile virus transmission through blood transfusion during an epidemic in Queens, New York City.

TL;DR: Human West Nile virus infection has been documented in the eastern United States since its discovery there in 1999 and epidemics of WNV encephalitis and meningitis raise concern that transmission of W NV may occur through voluntary blood donations.
