Changes in roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L.) population density in response to forest habitat succession

TLDR
The decline in cover of the main food plant species (bramble Rubus fruticosus), was much greater than the decline in deer density, implying that the deer were forced to change their diet and perhaps also their patterns of habitat selection in response to the change in habitat structure.

Ecological impacts of increasing numbers of deer in British woodland

R.J. Fuller, +1 more
- 01 Jan 2001 -
TL;DR: This paper summarizes the main issues that emerged from papers presented at a meeting on 'Ecological Impacts of Deer in Lowland Woods' in April 2000, and suggests convincing reasons to believe that for a wide range of taxa, abundances of particular species and overall community composition can be strongly modified by increasing numbers of deer.

Ungulates in temperate forest ecosystems: perspectives and recommendations for future research

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a synthesis with which to draw together into fuller context the various contributions of this special issue of Forest Ecology and Management on Ungulates in Temperate Forest Ecosystems.

Time series analysis, forecasting and control

TL;DR: In this article, a complete revision of a classic, seminal, and authoritative book that has been the model for most books on the topic written since 1970 is presented, focusing on practical techniques throughout, rather than a rigorous mathematical treatment of the subject.

Red Deer: Behavior and Ecology of Two Sexes

TL;DR: Red Deer: Behavior and Ecology of Two Sexes is the most extensive study yet available of reproduction in wild vertebrate and reveals the extent of sex differences in behavior, reproduction, and ecology.
