TLDR
In this article, the phase mismatch parameters in all possible FWM products in a dispersion-managed fiber (DMF) link become integer multiples of a common divisor and that, if this divisors coincides with an integer multiple of π radian, the Q-penalty caused by FWM can be quenched in theory.

FWM minimization in WDM optical communication systems using the asymmetrical dispersion-managed fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the four wave mixing induced power penalty for asymmetrical dispersion-managed fibers in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems and analyzed the power penalty in these fibers for various values of channel spacing, maximum dispersion and number of sections in different channels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analytical model for the design of multispan DWDM transmission systems

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical model is presented to characterize the nonlinear impairments in dispersion-managed amplitude-modulated dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDMM) systems.

Optimum Compensator Positioning to Reduce Four-Wave Mixing in Wavelength Division Multiplexing Optical Communication Systems Using Dispersion-Managed Fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of the compensator's location along the optical fiber on a variation of four-wave mixing power penalty is investigated theoretically and numerically for dispersion-managed fibers in wavelength division multiplexing systems.

Nonlinear Fiber Optics

TL;DR: The field of nonlinear fiber optics has advanced enough that a whole book was devoted to it as discussed by the authors, which has been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Russian languages, attesting to the worldwide activity in the field.

Optical Fiber Telecommunications

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the literature in the field of fiber computing. But they do not discuss the theoretical aspects of fiber technologies. And they focus on the use of light-emitting Diodes (LEDs) for telecommunication.

Limitations on lightwave communications imposed by optical-fiber nonlinearities

TL;DR: In this paper, the power limitations of light-wave systems were analyzed as a function of a number of wavelength-multiplexed channels and methods for scaling these results with changes in system parameters were presented.

Receiver design for digital fiber optic communication systems, II

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that a proper front-end design incorporates a high-impedance preamplifier which tends to integrate the detector output, and this must be followed by proper equalization in the later stages of the linear channel.
