Abstract
A Burnett type of apparatus was built for 12,000 lb./sq.in. pressure and temperatures of 25° to 100°C. Isothermal expansions were run on methane, ethylene, and four binary mixtures at 25°, 50°, and 75°C., and compressibility factors were derived from the pressure ratio observations. From the experimental data, second and third virial coefficients were derived by two techniques, that is, the slope-intercept and the multiple regressions curve-fit of the data by the density-series virial equation. A comparison of these virial coefficients with those from the different empirical equations of state indicates areas of needed improvements in these equations. Second virial cross coefficients were also obtained.

Extended corresponding states model for fluids and fluid mixtures: II. Application to mixtures and natural gas systems

TL;DR: In this paper, an extended corresponding states model was proposed for accurate prediction of the thermodynamic properties and vapour-liquid equilibria of natural gases and similar mixtures, using the van der Waals one-fluid model.

Compression-Factor Measurements on Methane, Carbon Dioxide, and (Methane + Carbon Dioxide) using a Weighing Method

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a high-sensitivity mass comparator to measure the compression factor Z with accuracies comparable to more demanding traditional indirect methods, and the results were found to be in agreement with the Tsonopoulos equation for natural gas components.

Extended corresponding states model for fluids and fluid mixtures: I. Shape factor model for pure fluids

TL;DR: In this article, a new and accurate extended corresponded states model for the prediction of thermodynamic properties of pure fluids is presented. But this model is based on shape factors expressed as functions of the reduced temperature and density, the acentric factor and the critical compression factor.

Mean polarizabilities and second and third virial coefficients of the gases C 2 H 4 , C 2 H 6 , and SF 6

TL;DR: In this article, the mean polarizabilities of the gases C2H4, C 2H6, and SF6 were determined from refractive index measurements with a Michelson interferometer for wavelength λ 0=632.99 nm.
