It is shown that it is possible to detect a variety of faults using a single noninvasive sensor using the method of axial flux sensing.
Abstract
This paper outlines an approach to the monitoring of electrical drives by the method of axial flux sensing. It is shown that it is possible to detect a variety of faults using a single noninvasive sensor. A prototype system design incorporating several novel features is also discussed, and experimental results presented.

Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis of Electrical Motors—A Review

TL;DR: A review paper describing different types of faults and the signatures they generate and their diagnostics' schemes will not be entirely out of place to avoid repetition of past work and gives a bird's eye view to a new researcher in this area.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of induction motors signature analysis as a medium for faults detection

TL;DR: The fundamental theory, main results, and practical applications of motor signature analysis for the detection and the localization of abnormal electrical and mechanical conditions that indicate, or may lead to, a failure of induction motors are introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in Diagnostic Techniques for Induction Machines

TL;DR: This paper investigates diagnostic techniques for electrical machines with special reference to induction machines and to papers published in the last ten years, and research activities are classified into four main topics.

A review of induction motors signature analysis as a medium for faults detection

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a tutorial overview of induction motors signature analysis as a medium for fault detection, and introduce the fundamental theory, main results, and practical applications of motor signature analysis for the detection and the localization of abnormal electrical and mechanical conditions that indicate, or may lead to, a failure of inductive motors.

Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of electrical machines-a review

TL;DR: Different types of faults and the signatures they generate and their diagnostics' schemes are described, keeping in mind the need for future research.

Steady-state analysis of 3-phase cage motors with rotor-bar and end-ring faults

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis for 3-phase induction motors with any distribution and number of rotorbar and end-ring failures is presented, using an inverted-geometry cage motor on which careful measurements of rotor-bar currents are made.

Effect of rotor eccentricity on the magnetic field in the air-gap of a non-salient-pole machine

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the determination of the magnetic field in the air-gap of an idealized machine without salient poles and with an eccentric rotor was developed, where the magnetic potential at any point is governed by the currents flowing in the windings and also by the magnetization induced on the cylindrical surfaces of the rotor and the stator.
