TLDR
In this paper, a service dependency analyzer is used to determine dependencies among components of a network, the components including services and hardware components, and the inference graph reflects cross-layer components including the services and the hardware components.Abstract:
Constructing an inference graph relates to the creation of a graph that reflects dependencies within a network. In an example embodiment, a method includes determining dependencies among components of a network and constructing an inference graph for the network responsive to the dependencies. The components of the network include services and hardware components, and the inference graph reflects cross-layer components including the services and the hardware components. In another example embodiment, a system includes a service dependency analyzer and an inference graph constructor. The service dependency analyzer is to determine dependencies among components of a network, the components including services and hardware components. The inference graph constructor is to construct an inference graph for the network responsive to the dependencies, the inference graph reflecting cross-layer components including the services and the hardware components.read more

Managing dependencies between operations in a distributed system
TL;DR: The linear transactions protocol as mentioned in this paper coordinates distributed transactions with Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability (ACID) semantics on top of a sharded data store and achieves scalability by distributing the coordination task to only those servers that hold relevant data for each transaction and achieves high performance by serializing only those transactions whose concurrent execution could potentially yield a violation of ACID semantics.

Detecting non-redundant component dependencies in web service invocations
TL;DR: In this article, a dependency data structure can be provided for each unique dependency, which can be augmented with correlation data of the repeated instances, such as transaction identifiers and sequence identifiers.

Parallel processing of data by multiple semantic reasoning engines
Samer Salam,Eric Voit +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an example method executed by a semantic reasoner is disclosed, which includes identifying, from a plurality of rules, one or more pairs of chained rules, and assigning rules chained together to a respective rule-set of P rule-sets.

Information technology security assessment system
TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for creating a composite security rating from security characterization data of a third party computer system is presented, which is derived from externally observable characteristics of the system.

Cross-layer troubleshooting of application delivery
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present techniques for cross-layer troubleshooting of application delivery, including collecting test results from a plurality of distributed agents for a pluralityof application delivery layers; and generating a graphical visualization of an application delivery state.

Template-driven approach for generating models on network services
Deborah L. Caswell,Srinivas Ramanathan,James D. Hunter,Scott S. Neal,Frederick A. Sieker,Mark D. Smith +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method and system of modeling a selected service within a network environment includes forming a service model template that is not specific to the network environment, but identifies anticipated network elements and network services that cooperate to enable the selected service.

Towards highly reliable enterprise network services via inference of multi-level dependencies
TL;DR: An Inference Graph model is introduced, which is well-adapted to user-perceptible problems rooted in conditions giving rise to both partial service degradation and hard faults, and takes into account multi-level structure, which leads to a 30% improvement in fault localization, as compared to two-level approaches.

A discrete-time Bayesian network reliability modeling and analysis framework
TL;DR: This research shows that a BN based reliability formalism is a powerful potential solution to modeling and analyzing various kinds of system components behaviors and interactions and provides a basis for more advanced and useful analyses such as system diagnosis.
