Materials for electrochemical capacitors

TL;DR: This work has shown that combination of pseudo-capacitive nanomaterials, including oxides, nitrides and polymers, with the latest generation of nanostructured lithium electrodes has brought the energy density of electrochemical capacitors closer to that of batteries.

"Inner" and "outer" active surface of RuO2 electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the dependence of the voltammetric surface charge q* on solution pH and potential scan rate has been investigated using a set of RuO2 electrodes prepared by thermal decomposition of RuCl3 at temperatures in the range 300-500°C.

Physical electrochemistry of ceramic oxides

TL;DR: In this article, a survey of the industrial needs and demands for ceramic oxide electrodes is presented, along with an analysis of the factors responsible for the electrocatalytic activity of oxides, providing a clue to the understanding of a generalized mechanism of electrode reaction which can be established for most anodic and cathodic electrolytic processes.

Iron-facilitated dynamic active-site generation on spinel CoAl2O4 with self-termination of surface reconstruction for water oxidation

TL;DR: In this article, a strategy using Fe substitution was proposed to enable the inactive spinel CoAl2O4 to become highly active and superior to the benchmark IrO2. But, it was not shown that the Fe substitution can facilitate surface reconstruction into active Co oxyhydroxides under OER conditions.
