Role of reduction in the photocatalytic degradation of TNT

TL;DR: In this article, the reduction of TNT by electrochemical and photoelectrochemical techniques has been investigated to obtain insight into the role of reductive transformations in a photocatalytic degradation process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of nitro polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons in air and diesel particulate matter using liquid chromatography with electrochemical and fluorescence detection.

TL;DR: Three different approaches to the liquid chromatographic detection of nitro polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons in air and diesel particulate extracts are presented, based on differential pulse (LCDPD) and amperometric (LCEC) electrochemical detection and fluorescence detection following online reduction to the amine (LCFI).
Journal ArticleDOI

Polarographic and electrochemical studies of some aromatic and heterocyclic nitro compounds, part I: General mechanistic aspects

TL;DR: In this paper, the half-wave and peak potentials of aromatic nitro compounds were investigated in buffered 35% DMF-water mixtures, and the sequence of protons and electrons in the four-electron reduction step was proved to be: H+, e, H+, E, H+ e, 2e, 2H+, 2H+.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flavin thermodynamics explain the oxygen insensitivity of enteric nitroreductases.

TL;DR: The chemical basis for the recent finding that a nitroreductase is a member of the soxRS oxidative defense regulon in Escherichia coli is established, and a detailed picture of the thermodynamics underlying the unusual activity of NR is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Contribution to the understanding of the reduction mechanism of nitrobenzene

TL;DR: In this paper, the first type of experimental evidence that can be used in the elucidation of the sequence of electron and proton transfer is the fact that the sequential reduction of the nitro group to a nitroso and a hydroxylamino group has never been reported to occur in two two-electron steps.

Elektrochemische bildung, reaktivität und eigenschaften des nitrobenzol-radikalanions

TL;DR: In this paper, the Radikalanion in gewissen nichtwassrigen Losungsmitteln ausserst stabil ist, erfolgt in wassriger Losung durch parallel zueinander verlaufende Reaktionen 1.B.

Die elektrolytische reduktion von hydrazobenzol an der quecksilbertropfelektrode

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that diprotonated hydrazobenzene cations underly a reduction (which under fission of the N-N-bond proceeds to aniline).
