Journal ArticleDOI
A Close Look at the Structure of the TiO2-APTES Interface in Hybrid Nanomaterials and Its Degradation Pathway: An Experimental and Theoretical Study
Daniela Meroni,Leonardo Lo Presti,Giovanni Di Liberto,Michele Ceotto,Robert G. Acres,Kevin C. Prince,Roberto Bellani,Guido Soliveri,Silvia Ardizzone +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that monomeric APTES chemisorption should proceed through covalent Si–O–Ti bonds, and the suitability of employing the silane as a linker with other chemical species is discussed in the context of controlled degradation of APTes monolayers for drug release and surface patterning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Porous Scaffold Design for Additive Manufacturing in Orthopedics: A Review.
TL;DR: The challenges faced by the porous designs and prospects of porous structure in orthopedics are proposed in this paper and the current status of porous designs in AM technology is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modulators for Terahertz Communication: The Current State of the Art.
TL;DR: A guiding rule is proposed to select appropriate materials and modulation methods for specific applications in THz communication based on the working principles such as electric, optical, optoelectrical, thermal, magnetic, programmable metamaterials and nonlinear modulation methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Computational hydrographic printing
TL;DR: This work proposes the first computational model for simulating hydrographic printing process, and extends the method to enable multiple immersions, each with a different object orientation, so the combined colors of individual immersion form a desired texture on the object surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
FlexMaps: computational design of flat flexible shells for shaping 3D objects
Luigi Malomo,Jesús Pérez,Emmanuel Iarussi,Nico Pietroni,Eder Miguel,Paolo Cignoni,Bernd Bickel +6 more
TL;DR: This work starts by mapping the 3D surface onto a 2D domain as in traditional UV mapping to design a set of deformable flat panels called FlexMaps, a novel framework for fabricating smooth shapes out of flat, flexible panels with tailored mechanical properties.
