TLDR
In this article, the authors present a method for identifying, relocating, acquiring a first and/or subsequent image of the suspect area, and performing a comparative analysis of respective images, which can be used to assist a medical professional in treating or counseling the patient.Abstract:
A device for acquiring first and subsequent images of a suspect area on a patient and methods for monitoring or detecting changes of the suspect area over time and providing notification when the changes exceed a threshold. The device may be an imaging device, such as a digital camera, possibly augmented with physical or optical devices for arranging the orientation and/or distance of the imaging device with respect to the suspect area. In addition, methods for identifying, relocating, acquiring a first and/or subsequent image of the suspect area, and performing a comparative analysis of respective images are also described. Results of the comparative analysis can be used to notify and/or assist a medical professional in treating or counseling the patient.read more

Virtual spectator experience with a personal audio/visual apparatus
Kevin A. Geisner,Kathryn Stone Perez,Stephen G. Latta,Ben J. Sugden,Benjamin I. Vaught,Alex Aben-Athar Kipman,Michael J. Scavezze,Daniel J. McCulloch,Darren Bennett,Jason Scott,Ryan L. Hastings,Brian E. Keane,Christopher E. Miles,Robert L. Crocco,Mathew J. Lamb +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a system for providing a virtual spectator experience for a user of a personal A/V apparatus including a near-eye, augmented reality (AR) display, where a position volume of an event object participating in an event in a first 3D coordinate system for a first location is received and mapped to a second position volume in a second 3D coordinates system at a second location remote from where the event is occurring.
Patent
Monitoring physiological conditions
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for monitoring physiological conditions of an individual including capturing images according to predefined capture criteria of one or more body regions of the individual on an ongoing basis, transforming the captured images in response to capture conditions present during image capture to provide a normalized image, calculating wellness parameters based on the normalized image; storing system data, including the normalized images, capture parameters, normalization transforms, or wellness parameters, or combinations thereof; monitoring and analyzing the wellness parameters in view of both current and prior semantic data to identify potential changes in physiological conditions.

Enhancing a sport using an augmented reality display
Kevin Geisner,Kathryn Stone Perez,Stephen G. Latta,Ben J. Sugden,Benjamin I. Vaught,Alex Aben-Athar Kipman,John Clavin +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a personalized sport performance experience with 3D virtual data displayed by a near-eye, augmented reality display of a personal audiovisual (A/V) apparatus is described.
Patent
Systems and methods for hyperspectral imaging
TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for analyzing a subject including a hyperspectral image module is provided, which is used to identify a suspect region of a subject by using an image of the subject.

Physiologic data acquisition and analysis
Bruce L. Davis,Tony F. Rodriguez,Alastair M. Reed,John Stach,Geoffrey B. Rhoads,William Y. Conwell,Shankar Thagadur Shivappa,Ravi K. Sharma,Richard F. Gibson +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used image analysis techniques to identify salient similarities between features of the uploaded image, and features of images in a reference library, and statistically relevant correlations emerged that identify to the user certain diagnoses, other diagnoses that may likely be ruled-out, and/or anecdotal information about similar skin conditions from other users.

System and method for endoscopic imaging and endosurgery
TL;DR: In this paper, a carrier in the form of an elongated tube is employed to combine and relate the movement of the endoscope and endosurgical instrument, which, by means of the carrier, may be jointly inserted into a body part either directly or through a cannula.
Patent
An "in vivo" video camera system
Gavriel J. Iddan,Doron Sturlesi +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an in vivo video camera system and an autonomous video endoscope are described, each system includes a swallowable capsule (10), a transmitter (28) and a reception system (12).

Noise-free real time ultrasonic imaging of a treatment site undergoing high intensity focused ultrasound therapy
Shahram Vaezy,Roy W. Martin,Stephen J. Carter,George Keilman,Victor Y. Fujimoto,Lawrence A. Crum +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method for simultaneous use of ultrasound on a probe for imaging and therapeutic purposes, where the probe limits the effects of undesirable interference noise in a display by synchronizing high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) waves with an imaging transducer to cause the noise to be displayed in an area of the image that does not overlap the treatment site.
Patent
Tissue characterization based on impedance images and on impedance measurements
TL;DR: In this paper, an approach for aiding in the identification of tissue type for an anomalous tissue in an impedance image comprising a first device providing a polychromic immitance map of a portion of the body; a second devise determining a plurality of poly-chromic measures from one or both of the parts of a body.
Patent
Systems and methods for the multispectral imaging and characterization of skin tissue
TL;DR: In this article, a multispectral imaging of skin tissue enables automatic characterization of the condition of a region of interest of the skin, based on direct digital imaging of the area of interest or the digitization of color photographic slides.
