An account—systematic, biological, ecological—of the fauna of the North Sea and the Baltic, and is expected to be completed in about 2000 pp.Abstract:
THE series of which this forms the first section is planned to give an account—systematic, biological, ecological—of the fauna of the North Sea and the Baltic, and is expected to be completed in about 2000 pp. in three years. Each part deals with one group of animals, is separately paged, and bears a number in Roman figures and a letter, so that eventually all the parts with the same Roman figure can be placed together and bound in the sequence indicated by the letters; e.g. all the parts on Ccelenterata will be headed “III.” followed by one of the letters a-f according to the class or order—the part on Ctenophora will be marked “III. f.”Die Tierwelt der Nord- und Ostsee.G. Studies on the resistance of marine bottom invertebrates to oxygen-deficiency and hydrogen sulphide
TL;DR: Comparisons with bottom invertebrates from various biotopes of the North Sea and the Baltic demonstrate that the species specific differences in resistance occurring in whole animals are already based on the cell metabolism.

TL;DR: Although in comparison with fully marine areas the Baltic Sea supports fewer species, several facets of the system's diversity remain underexplored to this day, such as micro-organisms, foraminiferans, meiobenthos and parasites, and climate change and its interactions with multiple anthropogenic forcings are likely to have major impacts on the Baltic biodiversity.
