Diode lasers with optical feedback: Stability of the maximum gain mode.

TLDR
It is shown that, contrary to common wisdom, the maximum gain mode of semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback is always stable and the minimum linewidth mode is shown to be subject to a Hopf bifurcation associated with destabilizing the relaxation oscillations.
Abstract
We show that, contrary to common wisdom, the maximum gain mode of semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback is always stable. The minimum linewidth mode is shown to be subject to a Hopf bifurcation associated with destabilizing the relaxation oscillations. This explains the experimental observation of narrow-linewidth, single-mode diode lasers operating with high optical feedback. © 1995 The American Physical Society.

Complex photonics: Dynamics and applications of delay-coupled semiconductors lasers

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the properties of single and two delay-coupled laser systems is presented, with a particular emphasis on emerging complex behavior, deterministic chaos, synchronization phenomena, and application of these properties that range from encrypted communication and fast random bit sequence generators to bioinspired information processing.

Sensitivity of quantum-dot semiconductor lasers to optical feedback.

TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of quantum-dot semiconductor lasers to optical feedback was analyzed with a Lang-Kobayashi approach applied to a standard quantum dot laser model, where the carriers are injected into a quantum well and are captured by, or escape from, the quantum dots through either carrier-carrier or phononcarrier interaction.

Dynamical behavior of a semiconductor laser with filtered external optical feedback

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical analysis of the dynamical performance of a semiconductor laser under the influence of delayed weak filtered external optical feedback was performed on the maximum gain mode with a small amplitude limit cycle.

Modeling quantum dot lasers with optical feedback: sensitivity of bifurcation scenarios

TL;DR: In this article, the complex dynamics of a quantum dot (QD) laser subjected to optical feedback from a short external cavity is studied. But the model consists of a Lang-Kobayashi-like model for the electric field combined with a microscopically based rate equation system.
