Diode lasers with optical feedback: Stability of the maximum gain mode.
TLDR
It is shown that, contrary to common wisdom, the maximum gain mode of semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback is always stable and the minimum linewidth mode is shown to be subject to a Hopf bifurcation associated with destabilizing the relaxation oscillations.Abstract:
We show that, contrary to common wisdom, the maximum gain mode of semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback is always stable. The minimum linewidth mode is shown to be subject to a Hopf bifurcation associated with destabilizing the relaxation oscillations. This explains the experimental observation of narrow-linewidth, single-mode diode lasers operating with high optical feedback. © 1995 The American Physical Society.read more

Sensitivity of quantum-dot semiconductor lasers to optical feedback.
TL;DR: In this article, the sensitivity of quantum-dot semiconductor lasers to optical feedback was analyzed with a Lang-Kobayashi approach applied to a standard quantum dot laser model, where the carriers are injected into a quantum well and are captured by, or escape from, the quantum dots through either carrier-carrier or phononcarrier interaction.

Modeling quantum dot lasers with optical feedback: sensitivity of bifurcation scenarios
TL;DR: In this article, the complex dynamics of a quantum dot (QD) laser subjected to optical feedback from a short external cavity is studied. But the model consists of a Lang-Kobayashi-like model for the electric field combined with a microscopically based rate equation system.
