Journal ArticleDOI

Plant regeneration via somatic embryogenesis in cotton

TL;DR: An efficient in vitro plant regeneration system characterized by rapid and continuous production of somatic embryos using leaf and stem explants of abnormal seedling as an explant have been developed in Gossypium hirsutum L.
Journal Article

High Frequency Somatic Embryogenesis and Plant Regeneration of an Elite Chinese Cotton Variety

TL;DR: An efficient protocol for the production of high frequency somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration of an elite cotton variety Simian-3 has been developed and it appeared that it was much easier to induce callus from hypocotyl than cotyledon or root explants.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-frequency regeneration via somatic embryogenesis of an elite recalcitrant cotton genotype ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) and efficient Agrobacterium -mediated transformation

TL;DR: Results show that it is now possible to introduce foreign gene(s) directly into elite cultivar Narasimha with similar efficiency to in traditionally used Coker lines in a relatively short period of time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of kanamycin on tissue culture and somatic embryogenesis in cotton

TL;DR: The aminoglycoside antibiotic kanamycin was evaluated for its effects on callus initiation from hypocotyl and cotyledon explants, proliferation of non-embryogenic and embryogenic calli, initiation and development of somatic embryos in Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.).
Journal ArticleDOI

High Frequency Somatic Embryogenesis in Cotton

TL;DR: A highly reproducible system for efficient somatic embryogenesis was developed to regenerate plantlets from cotton cultivars (Nazilli M-503 and Nazilli 143) and germination frequencies of Nazilli-143 embryos from hypocotyl, node and apex explants varied between 22 – 30 %.
