Investigating the moderating role of economic policy uncertainty in environmental Kuznets curve for South Africa: Evidence from the novel dynamic ARDL simulations approach

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored the moderating influence of economic policy uncertainty in the environmental Kuznets curve for South Africa from 1960 to 2020, and found that economic uncertainty accelerates environmental degradation in both the short and long run.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamic ARDL Simulations Effects of Fiscal Decentralization, Green Technological Innovation, Trade Openness, and Institutional Quality on Environmental Sustainability: Evidence from South Africa

TL;DR: In this article , the effect of green technological innovation (GI), trade openness (OPEN), population size (POP), per capita GDP (GDP), per-capable GDP squared, institutional quality (INS), and energy consumption (EC) on carbon emissions (CO2) in South Africa is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploring the moderating role of financial development in environmental Kuznets curve for South Africa: fresh evidence from the novel dynamic ARDL simulations approach

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigate the relationship between financial development and ecological sustainability and demonstrate that financial development boosts ecological integrity and environmental sustainability over the long and short terms. But, their empirical analysis is based on the novel dynamic autoregressive distributed lag simulations approach for South Africa between 1960 and 2020.
Journal ArticleDOI

Striving towards environmental sustainability in the BRICS economies: the combined influence of fiscal decentralization and environmental innovation

TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluate the combined influence of environmental innovation, and fiscal decentralization in order to achieve the environmental sustainability goals of the BRICS economies from 1970 to 2020.

The impact of information and communication technologies, CO2 emissions, and energy consumption on inclusive development in developing countries.

TL;DR: The findings support the theory that ICTs can be used as policy instrument to dampen the negative effect of environmental degradation on inclusive development and suggest that policy makers should consider the nature and dimensions of CO2 emissions while using I CTs as Policy instrument to mitigate emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI

An empirical investigation of nuclear energy and environmental pollution nexus in India: fresh evidence using NARDL approach

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the relationship between nuclear energy and carbon emissions in India and concluded that increased usage of nuclear energy over fossil fuels and improvement in industrial productivity, in the long run, reduces CO2 emission in India.
Journal ArticleDOI

Income-environment relationship in Sub-Saharan African countries: Further evidence with trade openness

TL;DR: The results show that trade openness enhances economic growth and is not linked to causing carbon emissions in these countries and a trade incentive policy may be implemented without harmful effect on the quality of the environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extended carbon footprint and emission transfer of world regions: With both primary and intermediate inputs into account

TL;DR: Wu et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the extended carbon footprint of world regions and the emission transfer via commodity trade, by including both primary and intermediate inputs into consideration, and revealed that the United States' carbon footprint is one and a half times as much as that of China, while this ratio is accounted as three quarters in our previous work.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of CO2 emissions and economic growth in energy consumption: empirical evidence from Belt and Road and OECD countries

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors empirically tested the claim described above within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative countries and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries and found that both CO2 emissions and economic growth positively and significantly affect energy consumption in all the eight panels.
