Evaluation method for the effect of salts on the elimination of secondary flames of energetic materials by differential scanning calorimetry

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of LiF, KC1 and KHCO 3 on the thermal decomposition of HTPB/RDX energetic composite was studied and a method suitable for the evaluation of the inhibitory behavior of alkali metal salts on the secondary flame combustion reaction of the composite was developed, utilizing thermogravimetry-derivative thermografi-metry differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and a multi-channel recorder.

Degradation of Polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of recent literature pertaining to both the theoretical aspects and experimental results of the degradation of polymers by heat and radiation is reviewed and critically evaluated, and the thermodynamics and energetics of these polymers are also reviewed.

Pyrolysis of polyacrylonitrile and related polymers—IV. Thermal analysis of polyacrylonitrile in the presence of additives

TL;DR: The thermal behavior of polyacrylonitrile was studied by DTA and TG as mentioned in this paper, and it was shown that PAN exhibits a very sharp exotherm at about 260°, caused by the oligomerization of nitrile groups.

Unsolved Problems in Polymer Degradation

TL;DR: The degradation of commercial rubbers and plastics is exceedingly complex, since processing and small quantities of impurities or additives can interact and totally change the behavior of the substrate as mentioned in this paper. But it is not sufficient to examine the degradation of pure materials.
