TLDR
By a short-term combined prophylactic-therapeutic procedure, the following compounds were found to be active against staphylococcal infections in Swiss mice: γ-aminobutyric acid, ε-aminocaproic acid (EACA), trans-4-aminomethylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid (trans-AMCHA), taurine, and cysteic acid.

Carnosine: Its properties, functions and potential therapeutic applications

TL;DR: It is clear from this review that many of the effects of these histidine-containing dipeptides, especially in regard to claims for their therapeutic effects, need to be subjected to critical experimental and clinical examination.

TL;DR: Derivatives of 4-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid and aminobenzoic acid were prepared and tested against experimentally induced Staphylococcus aureus infections in mice and relationships were obtained between the biological response and the R m values, with an increased R m value paralleling an increased antistAPHylococcal activity.

Influences of Taurine on Functions of Rat Neutrophils

TL;DR: The administration of taurine increased its concentrations in neutrophils and strengthened both the phagocytic and bactericidal capacities of neutrophil in the present study.

A preliminary investigation into the identity of a major ninhydrin-positive component of dental plaoue fluid from the monkey Macaca fascicularis

TL;DR: The discovery of an unidentified component in the basic region of chromatograms during analyses of free amino acids in dental plaque fluid from the monkey Macaca fascicularis supports the view that it is a contaminant, derived from plaque bacteria.

The metabolism of anserine and carnosine in normal and vitamin E-deficient rabbits.

TL;DR: Observations suggested the presence of an abnormality in the metabolism of anserine and carnosine as a result of, or concomitant with, the appearance of muscular dystrophy and formed the basis for the experiments reported in this paper.
