TLDR
Treatment with MEI that produced mild increases in TSH resulted in dramatic increases in thyroid cell proliferation, which peaked after 7 days of treatment and then returned to control values, similar to that of antithyroid drugs.

NUCLEAR RECEPTOR, PREGNANE X RECEPTOR, IS REQUIRED FOR INDUCTION OF UDP-GLUCURONOSYLTRANSFERASES IN MOUSE LIVER BY PREGNENOLONE-16α-CARBONITRILE

TL;DR: Results indicate that PCN treatment induces glucuronidation in mouse liver, and that PXR regulates constitutive and PCNinducible expression of some UGTs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of microsomal enzyme inducers on thyroid-follicular cell proliferation, hyperplasia, and hypertrophy.

TL;DR: Small increases in TSH by PB and PCN produced large increases in thyroid-follicular cell proliferation, which did not result in a comparable increase in the total number of thyroid- follicular cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of microsomal enzyme inducers on thyroid follicular cell proliferation and thyroid hormone metabolism.

TL;DR: Investigation of the effects of microsomal enzyme inducers on thyroid follicular cell proliferation and thyroid hormone metabolism in rats suggests that induction of T3 glucuronidation, rather than T4 glucuronidated, mediates increases in serum TSH of microSomal enzyme inducer treated rats.

Effects of Hepatic Drug-metabolizing Enzyme Induction on Clinical Pathology Parameters in Animals and Man

TL;DR: Results collectively indicate that in the rat, when histologic findings are limited to hepatocellular hypertrophy, DME induction is not expected to be associated with consistent or substantive changes in serum or plasma activity of hepatobiliary marker enzymes such as alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, and gamma glutamyltransferase.

Thyroid Follicular Cell Carcinogenesis

TL;DR: It would seem that if humans develop thyroid tumors following long-term derangement in thyroid-pituitary status, they may be less sensitive than the commonly used animal models.

Measurement of chemically induced cell proliferation in rodent liver and kidney: a comparison of 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine and [3H]thymidine administered by injection or osmotic pump.

TL;DR: Cell proliferation was increased in livers of both species of WY- and DCB-treated animals when compared to controls, and BRDU and [3H]-thymidine labeled the same population of cells as revealed by similar patterns of cell labeling in the livers and kidneys of treated animals.
