Journal ArticleDOI

An evaluation of antifungal agents for the treatment of fungal contamination in indoor air environments.

TL;DR: Assessment of the relative efficacies of five commercially available cleaning agents with published or anecdotal use for indoor fungal remediation indicates that tea tree oil was the most effective antifungal agent tested, and may have industrial application for the remediation of fungal contamination in residential and occupational buildings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antifungal properties of essential oils for improvement of indoor air quality: a review.

TL;DR: Generally, there appears to be some evidence to support the essential oils clove oil, tea tree oil, oregano, thyme and lemon as potential antifungal agents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antifungal activity of essential oils against fungi isolated from air.

TL;DR: Clove oil was found to be most efficacious, with eucalyptus and lavender oils showing some antifungal potential albeit less broad spectrum and with less persistence over time in this assay.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct growth inhibition assay of total airborne fungi with application of biocide-treated malt extract agar.

TL;DR: A combination and modification of previous methods and the NIOSH Manual Analytical Standard Method (NMAM 0800) is proposed in this paper to assess the effectiveness of a bioactive compound to inhibit growth of total airborne fungi.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coating of wallpaper with green synthesized silver nanoparticles from Passiflora foetida fruit and its illustrated antifungal mechanism

TL;DR: In this paper , the antifungal activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using Passiflora foetida fruit extract and coated with liner wallpaper was investigated against indoor fungus, Fusarium sp.

Profiles of Airborne Fungi in Buildings and Outdoor Environments in the United States

TL;DR: This is the largest study of airborne indoor and outdoor fungal species and concentrations conducted with a standardized protocol to date and provides industrial hygienists, allergists, and other public health practitioners with comparative information on common culturable airborne fungi in the United States.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the history of indoor air quality and health

TL;DR: In developed regions, good ventilation, getting rid of "dampness" problems, and adequate testing of new building materials would reduce morbidity and mortality, and in the developed world IAQ is a main cause of allergies, other hypersensitivity reactions, airway infections, and cancers.
Journal ArticleDOI

The spectrum of fungal allergy.

TL;DR: An overview of the biology of molds and diseases caused by molds in humans, as well as a detailed summary of the latest results on recombinant fungal allergens are given.
