Evaluación de la riqueza de especies de peces en las lagunas costeras mexicanas: estudio de un caso en el Golfo de México

TLDR
In this article, the origin of knowledge about fish species richness in the Tuxpan-Tampamachoco estuarine system, in Veracuz, Mexico, was analyzed.
Abstract
We analyze the origin of knowledge about fish species richness in the Tuxpan-Tampamachoco estuarine system, in Veracuz, Mexico. A complete inventory of the fish species known to date for this system (N=179) was elaborated from published lists and from sampling seagrass meadows of Tampamachoco Lagoon, which yielded 14 previously unknown species. W hen compared, the different Iists showed a low similarity that may reflect differences in sampling methods and collecting strategies. Current data suggest that fish species richness in Mexican coastal lagoons (Gulf of Mexico) is not related with iagoon surface area, as has been suggested, but with the number of inventories available for each lagoon, being these a reflection of the sampling effort. A sampling design for the assessment of fish species richness in estuarine systems should consider: a) using the highest possible variety of sampling fishing gears, b) col!ecting in al! microhabitat types and c) the preference of bimonthly or quarterly samplings for two or more years over monthly samplings in a single year

Spatial and temporal variation of fish assemblages in a coastal lagoon of the Biosphere Reserve La Encrucijada, Chiapas, Mexico.

TL;DR: Results suggest that spatial and temporal distribution of fish assemblages are determined by differences in the regimes of salinity and transparency, primarily driven by freshwater input from rivers.

Long-term fish assemblage dynamics of the alvarado lagoon estuary, veracruz, mexico

TL;DR: In this paper, a non-metric multidimensional scaling (MDS) based on Bray-Curtis similarities of fish species presence- absence data was used to compare collections from different sur- veys.

Lista de los peces de Tuxpan, Veracruz, México

TL;DR: A systematic checklist of fishes from Tuxpan, Veracruz is presented in this article, based in sampling done from 2007 to 2012 on coastal ecosystems, with 372 species belonging to 221 genera and 132 fishes pertained to shrimp and tuna fisheries.

Characterization of fish assemblages in a tropical coastal lagoon in the northwest Gulf of Mexico

TL;DR: Spatial and temporal variations of fish diversity, abundance, dominant species and community inhabitants were determined based on samples taken on a bimonthly basis from May 1994 to March 1995.
