TL;DR: The analytical framework was useful to identify similarities and considerable variations in service availability and linking approaches across the countries, and would help each country critically adapt and adopt global recommendations on HIV service decentralization, linkages and integration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Projecting the epidemiological effect, cost-effectiveness and transmission of HIV drug resistance in Vietnam associated with viral load monitoring strategies
Quang Duy Pham,David Wilson,Thuong Vu Nguyen,Nhan Thi Do,Lien Xuan Truong,Long Thanh Nguyen,Lei Zhang +6 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that a programmatically achievable 30% coverage of VL monitoring can have considerable benefits for individuals and leads to population health benefits by reducing the overall national burden of HIV drug resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Security trumps drug control: How securitization explains drug policy paradoxes in Thailand and Vietnam
TL;DR: The paradoxes inherent in Thai and Vietnamese drug policies are investigated in this paper, where the authors hypothesise that these two differences are largely a product of their perceived relationship to security and demonstrate how once an issue is securitized the ultra-prohibitionist rules of the game can be broken to allow for more humane and pragmatic policies.
The lost decade: neglect for harm reduction funding and the health crisis among people who use drugs.
Catherine Cook,Charlotte Davis +1 more
TL;DR: Funding for harm reduction in low-and middle-income countries has flat-lined over the past decade, with data suggesting allocations in 2016 are 18% lower than those in 2011, and the lives of people who use drugs are being neglected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Criteria for prioritization of HIV programs in Viet Nam: a discrete choice experiment
TL;DR: This study has shown that the preferred HIV program in Viet Nam is feasible, front-loaded for sustainability, has a higher proportion of investment on prevention, saves more lives and prevents more infections.

Basics of qualitative research : techniques and procedures for developing grounded theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present strategies for qualitative data analysis, including context, process and theoretical integration, and provide a criterion for evaluation of these strategies and answers to student questions and answers.

The Discovery of Grounded Theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the discovery of grounded theory is discussed and grounded theory can be found in the form of a grounded theory discovery problem, where the root cause of the problem is identified.

The increase in global HIV epidemics in MSM.
Chris Beyrer,Patrick S. Sullivan,Jorge Sanchez,Stefan Baral,Christopher M. Collins,Andrea L. Wirtz,Dennis Altman,Gift Trapence,Kenneth H. Mayer +8 more
TL;DR: Addressing the expanding epidemics of HIV in MSM will require continued research, increased resources, political will, policy change, structural reform, community engagement, and strategic planning and programming, but it can and must be done.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing the cost-effectiveness of HIV prevention interventions.
TL;DR: Comparing estimates of the cost-effectiveness of HIV interventions provides insight that can help local communities maximize the impact of their HIV prevention resources.
