TLDR
In this paper, a theory involving two parameters, r ∞ n0ν where ν is the Junge power law exponent (ν ≌ 3) was derived and has recently been confirmed to acceptable accuracy with the use of a simple experiment which employed diffusive separation.

On supersaturation spectrum and size distributions of cloud condensation nuclei

TL;DR: In this paper, an exponential expression N = N0 (1-exp[−B SK]) fits measured supersaturation spectra better than the commonly used power law expression n = C SK, where N is the number concentration of cloud condensation nuclei at the supersaturation S, N0 is the total number concentration, B, C and K are empirical coefficients.

Continuous flow, single-particle-counting condensation nucleus counter

TL;DR: In this article, a condensation nucleus counter (CNC) was developed for counting single particles, which is able to count single particles in an unlimited lower concentration range, using butanol as its working fluid.

Similarity considerations for the particle-size spectrum of a coagulating, sedimenting aerosol

TL;DR: In this article, an explanation for the similarities observed experimentally among size distributions of natural aerosols measured at different places and times is offered based on a similarity transformation of the equation describing the kinetics of a coagulating, settling aerosol.

A Novel Form of Diffusion Battery

TL;DR: A novel form of diffusion battery uses a series of 635-mesh screens instead of the customary cluster of circular tubes or holes to compare the performance of the screens with that of the cluster-tube and collimated-holes diffusion batteries, whose performance is known from theory.

Coagulation and size distribution of condensation aerosols

TL;DR: In this paper, a coagulation equation has been set up and a numerical solution proposed for calculating the changes with time of concentration and size distribution of condensation aerosols which are formed in the atmosphere, or in the laboratory, by the continuous production of primary particles, either by spontaneous condensation or gas reactions.

Microparticle size spectrum of Arctic haze

TL;DR: Particle size spectra of Arctic-derived air masses were investigated during late winter and spring 1983 from Ester Dome Observatory in central Alaska as mentioned in this paper, showing that most of the particle size distributions were bimodal with accumulation modes and nucleation modes (geometric mean diameter < 0.015µm) and almost all mass (0.5-5 µ g m−3) and a third to half the number of particles detected with condensation nucleus counters were in the large accumulation mode.
